On 18th September 2020, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries with immediate effect. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Lok Sabha leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) tendered her resignation in protest against anti-former ordinances and legislation which were passed on 17th September 2020.The resignation was accepted under the clause (2) of Article 75 of the Indian Constitution.
- Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was assigned to the additional charges of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries(MoFPI).

The current portfolio of Narendra Singh Tomar includes the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is a centre-right Sikh-centric state political party in Punjab, India. The party is the second-oldest in India, after Congress, being founded in 1920.
