On 12th May 2020, TheThiruvananthapuram division of Southern Railways and Kerala Circle of Postal department has initiated a first of its kind to establish tie up with the door delivery and pick up of parcels to help the public during the lockdown.
Key Points:
i.The memorandum for this service was signed by Dr. Rajesh Chandran, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division and Sayeed Rasheed, Director of Postal Services, Kerala Circle in the presence of Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division.
ii.The service will help the customers who are facing difficulties in sending and receiving parcels through railways and postal service in the lockdown period.
iii.With this initiative the postal personnel will be collecting the parcels from the consignee’s premises and get them booked.
iv.The transshipment will be through the railways form the nearest railway station to the destination from there the package will be collected by the postal department.
Minimum charge will be collected from the customers under the Logistics Post imposed by the Postal Department in addition to the charges imposed by the Indian Railways.
v.The service is initially provided in the region of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva and Thrissur.

vii.The service avails the transit of packages upto 3.5 tonnes as a single shipment.
