On December 2, 2019 the centre has launched nationwide vaccination drive under Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 (IMI-2.0) across the country. This flagship programme aims to immunize children under 2 years of age and pregnant women against 8 vaccine preventable diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, measles, meningitis and Hepatitis B.Target: The IMI’s vaccination driver which will be conducted from December 2019- March 2020, aims to achieve full immunization coverage target in 272 districts spread over 27 states.
Key Points:
i.Under the IMI-2.0 campaign, vaccination services will be provided free of cost to the drop out and left out children and pregnant women.
ii.IMI in Rajasthan: The IMI-2.0 campaign will be conducted in 4 phases in Rajasthan.
- Nearly 88.5% children and pregnant women have been vaccinated under routine immunization in Rajasthan. Meanwhile target has been set to reach 100%under this campaign.
- In Rajasthan the campaign is supported by women and child development department, Panchayati Raj department, the education department and Nehru Yuva Kendra apart from the medical department.
iii.IMI in Madhya Pradesh: The mission targets to vaccinate around one lakh children and more than thirty thousand pregnant women in Madhya Pradesh.
- Children will be vaccinated under the National Mission Indradhanush in the months of January, February and March 2020.
- Nodal officers: The project officers of the district urban development agency have been made the nodal officers for the successful operation of the mission.
iv.Vaccines for Japanese encephalitis and hemophilus influenza are also being provided in certain selected areas.
About Intensified Mission Indradhanush(IMI-2.0):
Fact1- IMI-2.0 is the second phase of the nationwide immunisation drive to mark the 25 years of Pulse polio programme.
Aim- the aim of the drive is to achieve 90% Pan-India immunisation coverage by 2022.
Previous version- The previous version of IMI-2.0 was Intensified Mission Indradhanush, launch in 2017. Prior to that was Mission Indradhanush launched in the year 2014.

Modified year- 1985 and was known then as Universal Immunization Programme(UIP).
