The Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), Government of the United Kingdom (UK) under the ‘ACT4Green’ programme.
Objective – To strengthen the Clean Energy & Green Energy Tech Start-up ecosystem in Maharashtra.
- The MoU will strengthen the existing startup ecosystem by accelerating technological innovations which address urgent climate change challenges and use the potential of emerging technologies to drive sustainable economic growth in both countries.
- The MoU was signed by Deependra Singh Kushwah, CEO of MSInS and Karen KcLuskie, Deputy Director of FCDO, UK Government in a virtual ceremony.
Key Points
i.The partnership is a committed effort to strengthen Clean-Tech and Green-Tech startup ecosystems in India & UK through sharing of expertise and knowledge.
ii.The ‘ACT4Green’ programme aims to enable the Indian and UK start-ups to expand internally by providing market entry support in their respective cross-border markets of interest. It will strengthen the strategic links between India & UK innovation ecosystems.
iii.The Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS) was established in 2018, under the Department of Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship (SDEED) of Maharashtra Government.
- It is the nodal agency responsible for execution of the Maharashtra State Innovative Startup Policy.

Maharashtra became the 1st state in India to set up an incubation centre. It is also the first time for Cornell University to set up an incubation centre outside the US.
