On April 21, 2020, According to the Madhya Pradesh (MP) Women and Child Development department’s (WCD) Principal Secretary Anupam Rajan, the state government has launched the ‘Chief Minister COVID-19 Yoddha Kalyan Yojana’ to benefit the Anganwadi workers and Assistants of the state. Under the scheme, the state government will provide a special health insurance cover of Rs 50 lakhs.
Key Points:
i.The benefit of this scheme will be given to the warriors under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), which was launched by the central Government to cover only the field staff of health, police and other departments working day and night to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
ii.The move will benefit about one lakh Anganwadi workers,who are taking risks and going door-to-door survey in every district. In addition, they also visiting from house to house providing nutritional food to the children. In such a situation, they have contact with many people, which poses a risk of corona infection. Hence the state decided to provide the benefit of this insurance scheme to them.
