On November 26, 2019 The Chairman of Lokpal, Shri Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose launched the lokpal’s logo in New Delhi. On this day, the motto of the lokpal “Ma Gridhah Kasyasvidhanam (Do not be greedy for anyone’s wealth)” was also adopted.Key Points:
i.Logo selection: Innovative platform portal of MyGov i.e., https://www.mygov.in/ as well as the lokpal registry mail,conducted an open competition to invite entries for logo and motto creation. Logo selection process was conducted in 3 phases and finally the logo design of Shri Prashant Mishra, from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh (UP) was selected.
ii.Logo features: The logo was designed based on the literal meaning of lokpal where Lok means people and Pal means caretaker, which in full creates the meaning caretaker of people. The lokpal logo features
- Ombudsman (judges bench),
- People (three human figures),
- Vigilance (Ashok chakra forming eye–pupil) and
- Law (shape of book in orange) and judicial.
iii.Members present: Judicial members of lokpal namely Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale, Justice Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Shri Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi, Shri Dinesh Kumar Jain, non-judicial members namely Smt. Archana Ramasundaram, Shri Mahender Singh & Dr Inderjeet Prasad Gautam, Secretary of Lokpal Shri B. K. Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of Mygov portal Shri Abhishek Singh and Joint Secretary of Lokpal Shri Dilip Kumar were present on the occasion.
About Lokpal:
Fact 1- The lokpal was formed based on the Lokpal Act of 2013. It has been formed for setting up of anti-corruption ombudsman called Lokpal at the Central as well as state level.
Fact 2- Pinaki Chandra Gosh is the first lokpal of India. The Lokpal became functional after the appointment of its 1st chairman (Gosh) and members in March 2019.
