Senior IPS officer Krishna Chaudhary has been appointed as the Director General of border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). He will succeed Subhas Goswami, who retired on December 31, 2014. Chaudhary was a 1979-batch Bihar cadre officer and he is currently the Director General of the Railway Protection Force. Chaudhary will be in office till June 2017.

- ITBP is strong force comprising 50,000 personnel to secure the 3,488 km border with China.
- The ITBP is one of the eight Central Armed Police Forces of India, raised on 24 October 1962, under the CRPF Act, in the wake of the Sino-Indian War of 1962.
- ITBP’s motto is Shaurya – Dridata – Karm Nishtha which means Valour–Determination–Devotion to Duty.Â
- The Governing body of ITBP is the Ministry of Home Affairs.Â
