On 15th October 2020, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) announced the “My Town My Pride” programme to deliver services governance at doorsteps to the people in urban areas. This 2 day programme will be held on 19th & 20th October 2020 as a part of the public outreach initiative in the towns of J&K.
Objective of “My Town My Pride”:
The programme is initiated with 3 main objectives,
- To enable Public outreach in towns
- To Strengthen democracy at grassroot level.
- To deliver the service at doorsteps.
Features of “My Town My Pride”:
i.The “My Town My Pride” programme anticipates the time bound delivery of documents like domicile, SC/ST/RBA/ALC/OBC certificates, revenue services.
ii.This programme will also ensure the time bound delivery of benefits of various welfare schemes like pensions, scholarships, PMAY, KCC, Health golden cards, Ladli Beti, etc.
Key Points:
i.J&K is set to achieve the target of power generation capacity within the next 4 years.
44 projects, which were long failing to make progress for a long term, were completed in September 2020.
ii.An additional 1789 projects were being accelerated for compilation.
Between 1st June 2020 to 15th October 2020, J&K has completed around 1392 km of blacktoping.
LG Stated that as of October 2020, around 6998 loans had been sanctioned to new borrowers and a total amount of Rs53.21 crore was handed to around 3,516 youth.

On September 12, 2020, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Governor Manoj Sinha announced Universal Health Insurance Coverage Scheme for all residents of the Union Territory at an annual expenditure of Rs 123 Crores. The scheme will have the same benefits as the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
