International No Diet Day(INDD) is annually observed across the globe on 6th May to celebrate body acceptance and diversity. The day is dedicated to promote a healthy lifestyle and create awareness about various eating disorders and the dangers and futility of dieting.
Background:
i.International No Diet Day was created in 1992 by Mary Evans Young, the director of Diet Breakers, a British group.
ii.The First INDD was celebrated in the United Kingdom in 1992.
Ribbon:
The Blue Ribbon is the symbol of the International No Diet Day.
Goals of International No Diet Day:
- To celebrate the beauty and diversity of all shapes and sizes.
- To educate the facts about weight-loss dieting, health and body size
- To Recognise how dieting preserves the violence against women.
- To support against weight discrimination, sizism and fatphobia.
