The Indian men’s cricket team played 3 ODIs (One Day Internationals) against West Indies from December 15-22, 2019. The ODI was part of the West Indies tour of India, 2019 that consists of 3 ODIs (One Day Internationals) and 3 T20Is (Twenty Twenty Internationals). The 3 ODI matches were held in Chennai, Andhra Pradesh(AP) and Odisha. The Indian team defeated West Indies(Windies) to win the ODI series for 2-1. It is also to be noted that, earlier the Indian team defeated the West Indies team in the T20I also with a 2-1 win. India’s Kuldeep Yadav (25 years) became the first Indian bowler to take two hat-tricks in ODIs. He achieved the feat in the 2nd ODI match which was held in Visakhapatnam, AP. His 1st hat-trick was against Australia in 2017 at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, West Bengal.
- Kuldeep joins the list of bowlers with two hat-tricks which include Wasim Akram(Pakistan) and Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan), Chaminda Vaas(Srilanka) and Trent Boult (New Zealand).
- Sri Lanka cricketer Lasith Malinga is the only international bowler with three ODI hat-tricks.
- Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Kannur Lokesh Rahul each (27 years) hit century in the second ODI match. Rohit made his 28th ODI century scoring 159 runs while KL Rahul scored 102 runs.
Rohit Sharma became leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2019:
Indian opener Rohit Sharma (32 years) became the leading run-scorer in the 50 over ODI format in 2019. He scored 1382 runs in the ODI format.
- He became 1st batsman to score five 100+ scores in a single edition of the tournament i.e., ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.
- He was followed by Virat Kohli who was the second top run-scorer in ODI 2019.
Rohit scores most International runs:
Rohit has scored with 2388 international runs in 2019. He surpassed Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya’s 1997 record of most international runs as an opener in a calendar year.

Rohit breaks his own world record for most international 6s in a calendar year:
Rohit Sharma broke his own world record of most sixes across all formats in international cricket in a calendar year. He totally hit 77 sixes in 2019 as against his 74 sixes in 2018.
Rohit hit 18th ODI since 2017 century surpassing Virat:
Rohit Sharma hit his 18th ODI hundred since the start of 2017, overtaking Virat Kohli who has hit 17 ODI centuries during the same period. England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow with 9 ODI centuries since 2017 topped the list.

India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit remained at the same first and second positions respectively in the ODI rankings for batsmen. Virat has 887 points in the ranking while Rohit has 873 points.
KL Rahul smashes his third hundred in ODI cricket, first in India:
KL Rahul hit his 3rd century in ODI cricket. He achieved this feat against West Indies in the second ODI match. It was also his 1st ODI hundred in India. He became the 2nd Indian after Rohit Sharma to score and international hundred in each format in the home ground.
Shai Hope Becomes Second-Fastest Batsman To Score 3,000 ODI Runs:
Windies cricketer Shai Hope became the Second-Fastest Batsman To Score 3,000 ODI Runs. He achieved the feat during the third and final ODI match held in Odisha in the 67th innings. South African cricketer Hashim Amla holds the record of being the fastest man to score 3000 ODI runs in just 57 innings.
