The State Government of Gujarat announced officially its “Agri Business Policy” in order promotes food processing and agriculture waste management during the festival of 2016 Krishi Mahotsav

- Promoting Food Processing Industry
- Applying new technique to convert agriculture waste into valuable products
- Developing the entire value of chain of exporting locally grown farm produces

Focus at increasing farmer’s income by strengthening agriculture related infrastructure and promoting food processing industry
Features of the Policy:
- Agro Based food processing will get 25 % subsidy and maximum of Rs. 50 Lakh
- Processing related to Cold Chain, Food e-radiation, packaging houses and Food parks will get 25% subsidy maximum of Rs. 5 Crore
- 25% Subsidy and maximum limit of Rs. 2.5 Crore on Primary processing of farm producers at village level
- Provides cheaper loans for entrepreneurs to start up or upgrade food processing units to Rs. 1.5 Crore at 7.5% interest rate
- To promote export of agriculture, marine and poultry products – The government announced subsidies on the freight charges under the category of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise
- Subsidy is applicable on Food Cargo at Ahmedabad Airport, Exports of Fresh farm Produces through sea route.
