The Hurun India Rich List 2024, the 13th edition of the Rich List was released which is topped by Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group with a net worth of
Rs 1,161,800 Crore (Cr), a 95% increase in wealth.
- Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) at 2nd with Rs 1,014,700 Cr and Shiv Nadar & Family of HCL Technologies ranked 3rd with a wealth of Rs 314,000 crore.

Key Points:
i.The 2024 list includes 1,539 individuals with a net worth of over Rs 1000 crore each.
ii.For the first time, the list surpassed 1,500 individuals, growing by 220 from 2023, with a record-breaking 272 new entrants.
iii.65% of the individuals on the list are self-made, up from 54% five years ago.
iv.The Industrial Products sector tops the list with 142 new entrants, followed by Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals & Petrochemicals.
v.The Real Estate sector experienced the fastest growth, with 42 new entrants added to the list.
Self-made Women in 2024:
i.Radha Vembu of Zoho is the wealthiest self-made woman with Rs 47,500 crore, followed by Falguni Nayar of Nykaa with Rs 32,200 crore and Jayshree Ullal of Arista Networks with Rs 32,100 crore.
ii.Neha Bansal, co-founder of Lenskart, is the youngest self-made woman entrepreneur at 42 years old.
Highlights:
i.Gautam Adani has seen the highest wealth increase in the top 10, with an addition of Rs 1,021,600 crore, despite facing challenges.
ii.Zepto co-founders Kaivalya Vohra (21) and Aadit Palicha (22) are the youngest on the list, with net worths of INR 3,600 crore and INR 4,300 crore, respectively.
iii.Hanwantbir Kaur Sahney (95) of NRB Bearings Company, is the oldest new entrant.
iv.Shah Rukh Khan, Actor and Founder of Red Chillies Entertainment (Production house), made his debut with a wealth of Rs 7,300 crore and topped among the Silver screen titans in the 2024 list.
- Shah Rukh Khan is followed by Actress Juhi Chawla of Knight Riders Sports, ranked second with a wealth of Rs 4,600 crore and Hrithik Roshan, co-owner of HRX (fitness brand) with a wealth of Rs 2000 crore.
v.Anand Chandrasekaran, 45, is the first angel investor on the list with a wealth of Rs 1,200 crore.
vi.Mumbai (Maharashtra), the billionaire capital of Asia, has topped the list as the preferred city among the billionaires in India.
- Mumbai houses 386 individuals featured on the 2024 rich list followed by New Delhi(Delhi) with 217; Hyderabad (Telangana) with 104 and Bengaluru(Karnataka) with 100.
