    Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the 2nd edition of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH-2024) in New Delhi, Delhi, unveiling India’s comprehensive strategy to become a global hub for the production, utilisation, and export of Green Hydrogen (GH).
     GH has the potential to decarbonise hard-to-electrify sectors like refineries, fertilisers, steel, and heavy-duty transportation.
     The 2nd ICGH 2024 was organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India (GoI), in association with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST)
     The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and EY are the implementation and knowledge partners, respectively.
     Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the industry partner.
     The GoI launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) in 2023 to make India a global hub for the production, use, and export of GH and its derivatives.
     NGHM will build capabilities to produce at least 5 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of GH per annum by 2030, with an associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 Gigawatt (GW) in India.
     India’s solar energy capacity grew by 3000% in the same period.

    On 11th September 2024, Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying (MoFAH&D) launched and unveiled several new initiatives and projects aimed to boost the fisheries sector and strengthen India’s blue economy at the 4th anniversary of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, Delhi.
     Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh launched the National Fisheries Development Program (NFDP) Portal which will act as a central hub for the registration of various stakeholders from the fisheries sector, information services, and support related to fisheries.
     The portal has been created under PM-MKSSY, a central sector sub-scheme launched under PMMSY.
     He also released the operational guidelines for Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY).
     PM-MKSSY aims to formalize the fisheries sector and support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) related to fisheries sector, with total investment of more than Rs 6,000 crore  over a period of 4 years i.e. from Financial Year 2023-24 (FY24) to FY27 across all states/ Union Territories (UTs) in India.
     The Union Minister announced the establishment of 3 specialized fisheries production and processing clusters dedicated to: Pearl cultivation, Ornamental fisheries and Seaweed cultivation.
     He also unveiled the guidelines for development of 100 coastal villages across coastal states and UTs into Climate Resilient Coastal Fisherman Villages (CRCFVs).
     Among 36 States/ UT, 22 have either adopted or declared their state fish, 3 have declared state aquatic animals and UTs of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have declared their state animal, which are marine species.
     30th August 2024, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi launched a Vessel Communication & Support System at Palghar district of Maharashtra With an investment of Rs 364 crore.

    According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data, small savings schemes grew by 13.8% up to February 2024, reaching Rs 18.1 lakh crore. These schemes, designed to finance government expenditure and promote saving habits, have shown consistent growth, particularly driven by the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) and the Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS).
      Seven small savings schemes, including Post Office Savings Scheme (PSS) and Post Office Recurring Deposits (PORD), recorded growth between 9% and 11%, with interest rates ranging from 4% to 9%.
     SSY and SCSS have seen the highest growth among all schemes. SSY saw a 41% growth, with the outstanding balance rising from Rs 77,472 crore in February 2023 to Rs 1 lakh crore in February 2024. SCSS recorded a 28% growth, with its outstanding balance rising from Rs 1.3 lakh crore to Rs 1.7 lakh crore during the same period.
     The outstanding balance of small savings schemes increased from Rs 6.2 lakh crore in 2015 to Rs 18.1 lakh crore in February 2024, with a 13.8% growth in February 2023.
     The formula to arrive at the interest rates for small savings schemes was given by the Shyamala Gopinath Committee in January 2023.
     The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) was launched by Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi on January 22, 2015 as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign to promote girl child education.

    ·         The crew members of the mission walked into space wearing SpaceX designed new Extravehicular Activity (EVA) suits.
    ·         Polaris Dawn Mission is the first of the three testing and development missions under the Polaris Program, collaboration between Jared Issacman and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
    ·         The 5-day mission was launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon9 rocket on 10th September, 2024 from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Centre of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Florida, the USA.
    The crew of the Polaris Dawn mission became the 1st crew who has successfully conducted the test of  SpaceX’s Starlink laser-based communications in space which will help in future space communications systems required for missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
