On completion, it would enable commercial navigation of vessels with a capacity of 1500-2000 DWT. This will serve as an alternative mode of transport which will be environment friendly and cost effective.

The survey is being carried out by Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs. It will conclude in March 2018.
