Union MoS Jitendra Singh Announces Rs.720 Crore Quantum Fabrication & Central Facilities at IIT BombayIn November 2025, Union Minister of State(MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Dr Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Science & Technology (MoS&T) announced the establishment of four Quantum Fabrication & Central Facilities, at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Bombay, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
About Quantum Fabrication & Central Facilities:
Quantum Infrastructure: The facilities were launched under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) with a total investment of Rs. 720 crore.
Institutional Coverage: The initiative will set up advanced quantum facilities at four major institutions: IIT Bombay (Maharashtra), Indian Institute of Science (IISc)Bengaluru (Karnataka), IIT Delhi (Delhi), and IIT Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh, UP).
Key Highlights: During the event, Union MoS (IC) Dr. Jitendra Singh visited the Quantum Research Laboratories at IIT Bombay and officially inaugurated the India’s first Liquid Helium Facility.

MeitY Launched CSIC 1.0 under ISEA Project in New Delhi
In November 2025, S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), launched the Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC) 1.0 under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi, Delhi.

• It aims to expose students and researchers to real-world cybersecurity challenges, foster indigenous solutions, and strengthen India’s homegrown cyber resilience

About Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC) 1.0:
Aim: It fosters indigenous, product-oriented solutions that strengthen India’s cyber resilience across critical sectors like Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI), telecom, and healthcare.
Leads: The initiative, led by MeitY in collaboration with Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Hyderabad.
Eligibility & Structure: Open to students and researchers across India and conducted through a five-stage process nurturing ideas from conception to Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
Mentorship & Collaboration: Top 20 teams receive dedicated guidance from industry experts, with opportunities for hands-on sessions and industry collaboration.
Focus Domains: Ten cybersecurity domains including Network Security, Mobile Security, Systems & Software Security, Hardware Security, Futuristic Technologies, Cryptography, Distributed Networks, Cyber Forensics, Governance & Operations, and Fintech Security.

MSJE and MoRD Signs MoU to Empower DNTs
In November 2025, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE)  through the Development and Welfare Board for De‑Notified, Nomadic and Semi‑Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) and the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) through the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY‑NRLM), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities in India.

Key Details of MoU:
Signatories: The agreement was formalized by V. Apparao, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the DWBDNC and T. K. Anil Kumar, Additional Secretary, MoRD.
Integration: Under this collaboration, over 5,000 DNT Self-Help Groups (SHGs) formed under DWBDNC will be integrated into the DAY-NRLM institutional network, including Village Organizations(VOs) and Cluster Level Federations(CLFs).
Supported by :For the first year, DWBDNC will nurture DNT SHGs through financial literacy, group strengthening, and enterprise preparation, after which DAY‑NRLM will support them for 3–5 years with credit linkages, asset creation, and sustainable livelihoods.
DNT Sakhi: A key innovation is the creation of a community-based “DNT Sakhi” cadre with women drawn from DNT groups, who will act as facilitators, mentors, connectors to government schemes, and guides for accessing credit.
SRLMs: The MoU also promotes convergence with national missions and close coordination between DWBDNC and State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs) to ensure long-term inclusion.

NCW Launches 24×7 helpline ‘14490’ for Women in Distress
On November 24,2025, the National Commission for Women (NCW) launched a new 24×7 short-code helpline ‘14490’ to provide faster, easier and more accessible assistance to women facing violence, harassment, cybercrimes or any form of distress across India.

About Helpline 14490:
Aim: The launch aims to enhance NCW’s outreach, especially for women in remote regions, by ensuring round-the-clock, free, nationwide access from any mobile or landline device.
Designed for: The toll-free 14490 is designed as a simplified, easy-to-remember short code and is directly linked to NCW’s existing national helpline 7827170170, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.
Support:  The NCW 24×7 helpline 14490 provides immediate support to women in distress, offering guidance, legal aid, and coordination with authorities for timely intervention.

Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to South Africa for 2025 G20 Leaders’ SummitPrime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi undertook a three-day official visit to South Africa from November 21–23, 2025, to participate in the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit, marking his 12th G20 summit.

• The 2025 G20 Summit, held from November 22–23, 2025, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, was the first G20 summit ever hosted on the African continent.

Highlights of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to South Africa:
Arrival: On November 21, 2025, PM Narendra Modi arrived at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Johannesburg and received a ceremonial welcome.
PM Narendra Modi Participates in G20 Summit: On November 22, 2025, he addressed the Opening session of the G20 summit titled “Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth-Leaving No One Behind”, emphasizing reforming development financing, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth, and enhancing the voice of the global south. During the session,he proposed six ideas for the G20.

• Overview: The 2025 G20 Summit, hosted by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, was the fourth consecutive G20 Summit held in the Global South.
• Theme: The 2025 summit was held under the theme titled “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”.

G20 Adopts Joint Declaration: During the summit, the G20 leaders agreed and adopted the 122‑Point Leaders’ Declaration emphasized solidarity, equality, and sustainability, highlighting multilateral cooperation and the priorities of the Global South.
ACITI Partnership:  During the G20 Summit, India, Canada, and Australia launched the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership, a trilateral technology and innovation partnership.
Bilateral Meetings: During the G20 Summit, PM Narendra Modi held bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, PM Mark Carney of Canada, PM Sanae Takaichi of Japan, and PM Giorgia Meloni of Italy.

Indonesia Officially Declared Polio-Free by WHOIn November 2025, World Health Organization (WHO) declared Indonesia is free from type-2 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVPDV), following the non-reporting of polio virus cases in children or the environment since June 2024.

Criteria for Polio-Free Status:
WHO requires a country to remain polio-free for at least three years without any wild poliovirus cases.

• The country must have robust immunization programs, effective surveillance systems, and rapid response mechanisms for any suspected cases.

Background: 
Overview: In 2022, the outbreak of cVPDV type 2 began in Aceh Province, Indonesia. The Indonesia government conducted two rounds of nationwide vaccination using the novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) between 2022 and 2024.
Measures: The routine immunization coverage for the second dose of Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) increased from 63% to 73% in 2024. As a preventive measure, Indonesia introduced a hexavalent vaccine, which protects against six diseases, including polio.
Wild-Polio Free: As per the WHO’s polio transition report, in 1995, Indonesia stopped indigenous wild poliovirus transmission and was certified wild-polio free in 2014.
About Polio: 
Overview: Poliomyelitis (Polio) is a highly contagious disease caused by poliovirus. It mainly affects children under 5 years of age. It cannot be treated but can be prevented through vaccination.

• The virus primarily attacks the nervous system, which can lead to paralysis or even death in severe cases.

Spreading: Polio spreads through fecal-oral route while consuming food or water contaminated with infected feces and oral-oral route, rarely through saliva or personal contact.
Types of Polio: It includes Wild Poliovirus (WPV), which naturally occurs and is responsible for historic polio outbreaks worldwide and Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus (VDPV), which rarely occurs when weakened poliovirus in oral vaccines mutates.
Vaccines: It includes Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), which contains a live weakened virus to stop its spread, and the Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV), which contains a killed virus to provide strong individual immunity.

RBI Announces UPI–TIPS Interlinkage to Enhance Cross-Border Payments with Euro Area
In November 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the interlinking of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) with the TARGET(Trans‑European Automated Real‑time Gross settlement Express Transfer) Instant Payment Settlement (TIPS), the instant payment system operated by the Eurosystem.

• This initiative is aligned with the Group of 20(G20) Roadmap for enhancing cross-border payments, focusing on cheaper, more efficient, transparent, and accessible remittances

About UPI–TIPS Interlinkage:
Interlinkage: The RBI and NPCI International Payment Limited (NIPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), have been engaging with the European Central Bank (ECB) to connect UPI and TIPS.
Aim: The proposed interlinkage aims to facilitate cross-border remittances between India and the Euro Area and is expected to benefit users of both jurisdictions.
TIPS: It is a market infrastructure service launched by the Eurosystem in November 2018. It enables payment service providers to offer fund transfers to their customers in real time and around the clock, every day of the year.

IDFC FIRST Bank Signs MoU with FPSB India as ACP
In November 2025, the IDFC FIRST Bank signed an Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with FPSB India, the Indian Subsidiary of Financial Planning Standards Board Limited, as an Approved Corporate Partner (ACP), aiming to strengthen financial planning standards and upskill its management and private banking teams.

Key Details of MoU:
Signatories: The MoU was signed Rahul Singh, Country Head of Private Banking, IDFC FIRST Bank and Chandrakant Sureka, Interim Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of FPSB India.
Initiative: The MoU was signed under FPSB India’s ACP program to promote financial planning excellence and professional certification across leading Indian financial institutions.
Objectives: The collaboration aims to:

• Upskill IDFC FIRST Bank’s Wealth Management Regional Managers through specialized training and certification programs.
• Support hiring initiatives and create enhanced career pathways for Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professionals.

Air India Reinstates Codeshare Agreement with Air Canada to boost Connectivity  
In November 2025, Tata-owned Air India reinstated its codeshare agreement with Air Canada, effective 2 December 2025, reopening enhanced connectivity between India and Canada.

About Codeshare Agreement:
Flight Route : Under the renewed agreement, Air India (“AI”) will place its designator code on Air Canada-operated flights within Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montréal, and Halifax) and between the United Kingdom, UK (London Heathrow) and Canada.
Enhanced Connectivity : Air Canada passengers will gain one-ticket access to domestic Indian destinations, including Amritsar(Punjab) and Ahmedabad(Gujarat), Mumbai (Maharashtra), Hyderabad (Telangana), and Kochi (Kerala) via Delhi, and to Delhi (Delhi) and Mumbai (Maharashtra) via London Heathrow.

ACC Approves 7 EDs Appointments Across Public Service BanksIn November 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi, approved the Department of Financial Services’s(DFS), under the Ministry of Finance (MoF), proposal to elevate seven Chief General Managers (CGMs) to the position of Executive Director (ED) in various Public Sector Banks (PSBs).

Background: 
Selection Process: These appointments come after the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) conducted a selection process, recommending 11 candidates for Executive Director (ED) positions on August 4, 2025, following interviews of 80 banking professionals from various Public Sector Banks (PSBs):
Tenure: These appointments, effective from 24 November 2025, carry a three-year tenure unless terminated earlier on account of superannuation.
Appointments of 7 EDs:
Punjab National Bank (PNB): Amit Kumar Srivastava, currently Group Chief Risk Officer at PNB, has been promoted as ED of PNB for three years.
Canara Bank: Sunil Kumar Chugh, then CGM at PNB, is named ED of Canara Bank.
Union Bank of India(UBI): Amresh Prasad, CGM at PNB, becomes ED of UBI, with his term running until 31 October 2028.
Bank of Maharashtra(BoM): Prabhat Kiran, CGM from Canara Bank, has been appointed ED of BoM.
Indian Bank: Mini T M, CGM at Bank of Baroda(BoB), will serve as ED of Indian Bank, bringing deep experience in branch operations and retail banking.
Central Bank of India(CBI): E. Ratan Kumar, CGM at CBI, is designated ED of the CBI for three years or until further notice.
Bank of India(BoI): Pramod Kumar Dwibedi, CGM at BoI, will take over as ED of BoI, serving until his superannuation on 30 June 2028.

Legendary Bollywood Actor & Padma Bhushan Awardee Dharmendra Passed AwayOn November 24, 2025, Renowned Bollywood actor Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol , popularly known as Dharmendra, passed away at the age of 89 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was born on 8 December 1935, in Nasrali, Punjab.

• In 2012, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award,  in recognition of his significant contributions to the Art.

About Dharam Singh Deol:
Overview: He had an illustrious career, spanned over six decades and he acted in over 300 films in multiple languages, primarily in Hindi cinema.
Career: In 1960, he made his debut in Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, a Hindi film. He was first critically acclaimed for his performance in Bandini (1963).

• He had a breakthrough via Phool Aur Patthar (1966), which established him as a romantic and action hero.
• His prominent works include Sholay (1975), in which he played the role “Veeru”, Chupke Chupke (1975), Dharam Veer (1977).
• Later in his career, between 1990s and 2010s, he played supporting and character roles in films such as Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011), Yamla Pagla Deewana Series (2011-2013).
• Besides acting, he was involved in film production and served as a Member of Parliament(MP) (Lok Sabha) representing the Rajya Sabha(from 2004 to 2009)

Awards: In 1997, he was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema, Lifetime Achievement Award at Annual Kalakar Awards in 1999.

Origin: In July 1989, the Organization of African Unity (OAU), during its 25th Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, designated 20 November as “Africa Industrialization Day.(AID)”
UN Recognition: In December 1989, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution A/RES/44/237, confirming 20 November each year as ‘Africa Industrialization Day.’

•  This resolution also announced the period 1991–2000 as the “Second Industrial Development Decade for Africa.”

First Observation : The inaugural AIDwas celebrated on 20 November 1990.

Background:
Commemoration: Every year since 2002, World Philosophy Day has been celebrated at UNESCO’s headquarters on the third Thursday of November under UNESCO’s regular programme.
Resolution: The proclamation of World Philosophy Day was included in the provisional agenda of the 171st session of the UNESCO Executive Board at the request of Morocco.
Adoption: In 2005, the 33rd session of the General Conference of UNESCO adopted resolution 33C/Resolution 37, proclaiming the third Thursday of every year as World Philosophy Day.

Definition: Philosophy is the study of fundamental questions about the nature of reality, knowledge, and value, exploring subjects such as ethics, existence, time, meaning, and thought.
Meaning: The term “philosophy” literally means “love of wisdom.”
2025 Event: 
Event: World Philosophy Day 2025 was observed on 20 November at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, France to promote philosophical dialogue, critical thinking, and reflection on moral principles guiding future societies.
Keynote Lecture: The keynote address was delivered by Belgian-Dutch philosopher, economist and Professor Ingrid Robeyns, who holds the Chair in Ethics of Institutions at Utrecht University, Netherlands.
Lecture Theme: “The Values of Societies of the Future,” focusing on the ethics of inequality and the moral principles for future socio-economic systems.
Award: Prof. Ingrid Robeyns was awarded the Stevin Prize, the highest academic distinction in the Netherlands, in 2025.

National Cadet Corps Raising Day 2025 – November 23The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, celebrates its Raising Day on the 4th Sunday of November to honor its role in shaping young citizens and their contribution to national service.

• In 2025, NCC Raising Day was observed on 23 November, marking the 77th anniversary of its establishment.

Background: 
Formation: On 29 September 1946, the Cadet Corps Committee was formed with Pt. H. N. Kunzru as its Chairman.

• On 15 June 1948, the NCC was officially set up through an ordinance issued by the Government of India(GoI), serving as an auxiliary educational body for the Indian Army(IA) and the Indian Navy(IN).

Observation: NCC Day is celebrated every year on the 4th Sunday of November to mark the establishment of the first NCC units in Delhi in 1947.
2025 Events: On 22 November 2025, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the National War Memorial, New Delhi(Delhi), where Rajesh Kumar Singh,  Secretary  of Ministry of Defence(MoD) and Lt Gen Virendra Vats,  Director General(DG) of  NCC, paid homage to the fallen heroes on behalf of the NCC.
