MeitY Notifies Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025On 13th November 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India (GoI), notified the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, 2025, operationalizing the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act, 2023).
Phased Implementation:

• Rules 1, 2, 17–21: Effective from 13th November 2025 (covering the Data Protection Board’s constitution and procedures).
• Rule 4: Effective from 13th November 2026 (Registration and obligations of Consent Managers).
• Rules 3, 5–16, 22–23: Effective from 13th May 2027 (18 months later) (covering core obligations like consent, notices, and data breach reporting).

Key Provisions : 
Scope: Establish procedures, obligations, and safeguards for collection, processing, storage, and erasure of personal data.
Consent & Notices: Data Fiduciaries must provide clear, itemised notices detailing personal data collected, purpose, and withdrawal mechanisms (Rule 3).
Consent Managers: Must register with the Data Protection Board (DPB) (Rule 4).
Breach Notification: Notify affected users and DPB within 72 hours with details and mitigation steps.
Data Retention & Erasure: Personal data must be erased once purpose is served; data principals notified 48 hours prior (Rule 9). Logs and essential records retained for a minimum one year.
DPDP Board Composition: Chairperson and 3 Members, appointed through search-cum-selection committees chaired by the Cabinet Secretary (for Chairperson) and Secretary, MeitY (for Members).

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan Inaugurates 30th CII Partnership Summit from November 14 to 15, 2025, in Visakhapatnam, AP

On November 14, 2025, the Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 30th edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit, which will continue till November 15, 2025, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP).

• Union Minister Piyush Goyal virtually laid the foundation stones for Drone City and Twin Space Cities in AP.

Highlights of the 30th CII Partnership Summit:
Theme: The 2025 edition was held under the theme titled “Technology, Trust and Trade: Navigating the New Geoeconomic Order”.
Organizers: The summit was jointly organized by CII, Government of AP, with support from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), MoC&I.
MoUs signed: During the summit, the Government of AP secured Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) worth Rs.11.92 lakh crore, encompassing 35 MoUs worth Rs. 3.65 lakh crores were signed ahead of the summit, in five key sectors such as Power & Green Energy, Electronics, Tourism, Renewable Energy (RE), and Biorefineries and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
Drone City and Twin Space Cities in AP:
Drone City: The drone city, spanning 300 acres at Orvakal in Kurnool (AP), is designed to become India’s central hub for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drone innovation, manufacturing, skilling, and certification.
Financial Support: Government of AP will offer a 20% capital subsidy, 100% reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST), along with fast-track approvals and ready plug-and-play infrastructure.
Twin Space Cities: The Twin Space Cities, a pair of integrated, high-technology hubs, located in Tirupathi and Sri Sathya Sai districts of AP, aims to make AP, the Space-Tech Capital of India.

• The project is expected to attract investment of Rs.25,000 crores.

Financial Support: Government of AP will implement a dedicated AP SpaceTech Policy 4.0 (2025-30) and set up a Rs.100 crore AP SpaceTech Fund to promote startups and R&D.

Intellipaat Partners with IndiaAI Mission to to Launch ‘YUVAi for ALL’ for AI Literacy
In November 2025, Intellipaat, one of India’s leading Artificial Intelligence(AI) -driven learning and upskilling platforms, has partnered with the IndiaAI Mission, an initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to launch the nationwide ‘YUVAi(Youth for Unnati and Vikas with AI) for ALL’ programme aimed at accelerating AI literacy across India.

Key Details of Partnership:
Aim: The collaboration supports the Government of India(GoI)’s vision to empower 10 million citizens with foundational AI competencies by January 2026.
Focus: The initiative focuses on building an AI-ready workforce and enhancing digital capabilities among students, educators, and working professionals.
Training : Under the partnership, Intellipaat will provide free training in AI and Generative AI to participants across India.

• Learners will also receive Government-recognized certificates, strengthening their credibility in emerging tech domains.

Programme: Offers AI awareness workshops, demonstrations of Generative AI tools, community learning drives, and foundational AI literacy e-learning resources.

CBFC Launched Multilingual Module on e-Cinepramaan Portal
In November 2025, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) launched a Multi-lingual Module on e-Cinepramaan portal, aimed to digitize and streamline the film certification process for the Indian film industry.

• The new module  is introduced as an optional feature, in addition to the existing process, enabling the applicants to submit films in various languages through a single, unified application, significantly reducing procedural duplication.

Key Features:
Single Application: Applicants will be able to upload and submit all language versions simultaneously through the e-Cinepramaan portal.
Unified Certificate:Under this module, each film certified for multilingual release will receive a single Multilingual certificate, specifying all languages in which the film has been approved.
Streamlined Processing: The applications submitted will be processed by one Regional Office.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates AI Incubation Centre at DPS in New Delhi, Delhi
On November 14, 2025, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministry of Education (MoE), a first-of-its-kind Artificial Intelligence (AI) Incubation Centre at Delhi Public School (DPS) at RK Puram in New Delhi, Delhi.

Developer: The AI incubation center has been developed by Voice, Video, Data, and Network (VVDN) Technologies Private Limited, in collaboration with Google Cloud.
Technologies: The center will use the AI platforms of Google Cloud, including Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. The students will have access to humanoid and companion robots such as AI RoBOt (AIBO), Unitree G1, Augmented Reality (AR)/ Virtual Reality (VR) glasses, Internet of Things (IoT) kits and Raspberry Pi systems.
Target: It is designed to support students from Class 6 and above and serve neighboring government schools.

Overview of President Draupadi’s Visit to Botswana from November 11 to 13, 2025The President of India Droupadi Murmu was on a three-day official visit to Botswana from November 11 to 13, 2025, marking the first-ever state visit by an Indian President to Botswana.This visit marked the final leg of her state tour to Angola and Botswana.
Highlights of President Draupadi Murmu’s Visit to Botswana:
Bilateral Meeting: President Draupadi Murmu was welcomed by President of Botswana Duma Gideon Boko at his office in Gaborone. They held one-to-one talks, followed by delegation-level meetings and discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, Renewable Energy (RE),agriculture, health, skill development, defence, and digital technology.
Key Visits: On November 12, 2025, President Murmu began her visit by visiting the Diamond Training Company Botswana (DTCB) in Gaborone.

• She addressed the National Assembly of Botswana and also visited the Three Dikgosi Monument in Gaborone.

MoUs signed: During the visit, India and Botswana signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Pharmacopoeial cooperation, enabling harmonisation of pharmaceutical quality standards, facilitating smoother access for Indian medicines in Botswana.

• An MoU was signed by India and Botswana to recognize the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) as a reference “book of standards” for medicines in Botswana, becoming the 18th country to recognize the IP as a Pharmacopoeial standard.

8 Cheetahs Donated:On November 13, 2025, President Draupadi Murmu, along with Botswana President Duma Boko, visited the Molokodi Nature Reserve.

• The two leaders witnessed experts from India and Botswana release eight cheetahs, captured from the Ghanzi region, into a quarantine facility, marking Botswana’s symbolic donation of the animals to India under Project Cheetah.

SBI to Discontinue mCASH Facility on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite from December 1, 2025
In November 2025, State Bank of India (SBI) announced that the mCASH sending and claiming facility on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite platforms will be discontinued on 30 November 2025, with the service becoming unavailable from 1 December 2025.

About SBI mCASH Update:
Purpose: The discontinuation reflects SBI’s shift toward more secure, modern, and widely adopted digital payment systems.
mCASH-Use: The service allowed instant transfers using only the recipient’s mobile number or email ID, without requiring beneficiary registration.
Claiming: Recipients accessed a secure link and 8-digit passcode sent via Short Message Service (SMS) or Electronic Mail (email) to claim the funds, then logged into the State Bank mCASH app using a registered Mobile Personal Identification Number (MPIN) to transfer the amount to any bank account and save account details with Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) for future use.
Alternatives: SBI advises customers to use Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), or Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) for third-party transfers, with UPI available through the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) SBI Pay app for money transfers, bill payments, recharges, and merchant transactions.

ECONOMY & BUSINESS

Ind-Ra Projected India’s GDP Growth for Q2 FY26 at 7.2%, Led by Private Consumption
In November 2025, India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fitch Group, projected India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth at 7.2% for 2nd Quarter (Q2: July to September) of Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26), driven mainly by robust private consumption and a resilient services sector.

• This growth projection is higher than the 5.6% growth rate recorded in Q2FY25 but lower than the 7.8% growth rate in Q1(April to June) of FY26, the fastest pace in five quarters.

Key Projections:
Nominal GDP Growth: As per Ind-Ra, India’s nominal GDP growth may have slipped below 8% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) in Q2FY26, which is further expected to impact government tax collections.
Private Consumption: The agency further estimated that India’s private consumption grew 8% in Q2FY26, compared with 7% in Q1FY26 of the current financial year and 6.4% in Q2FY25.

• This consumption demand was supported by factors like: the income tax cuts as announced in the Union Budget for FY26; record low inflation, and stable rural wage growth.

Investment Demand: It also highlighted that investment demand has increased at 7.5% Y-o-Y during Q2FY26 due to stable government capital expenditure (Capex) amid global uncertainty.

Renowned Art Director & Padma Shri Awardee Thota Tharani Conferred with France’s Chevalier Award
In November2025, Renowned Indian Art Director and Padma Shri Awardee Thota Tharani, was conferred with the Chevalier de L’Ordre Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), one of France’s highest civilian honours in the field of arts and culture, by the French Government.

• Tharani formally received the award from Thierry Mathieu, French Ambassador to India, at a ceremony held at the Alliance Francaise of Madras in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN).
• Following this honor, Thotta Tharani now joins a list of Indian film personalities like: famous Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan (1995), M. Balamuralikrishna, Kamal Hassan (2016), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (2012), and Kalki Koechlin (2018), who had previously received the award.

About Thota Tharani:
Career: Tharani started his career as an art director with Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s Telugu film ‘Sommokadidhi Sokokadidhi’ in 1978.
Notable Work: With a career spanning over 40 years, Tharani created set designs for some of Tamil films like: ‘Nayakan’, ‘Indian’, ‘Thalapathi’,  ‘Dasavatharam’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
Civil Honour: In 2001, Tharani was honoured with Padma Shri, India’s 4th highest civilian honour in the field of ‘Arts and Culture’.

In November 2025, Godrej Enterprises Group(GEG’s) aerospace division has delivered the first human-rated L110 Stage Vikas Engine to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Bengaluru(Karnataka), marking a major milestone in India’s Gaganyaan crewed spaceflight programme.

About L110 Stage Vikas Engine:
Overview: The L110 engine serves as the primary propulsion system for the Human-rated Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (HLVM3) rocket, which will launch the Gaganyaan crew module carrying Indian astronauts by 2027.
Purpose: The mission will take the crew module into Earth’s orbit and safely return the astronauts back to the planet.

DRDO’s NSTL  Developed New Generation MP-AUVs for Mine WarfareIn November 2025, the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), a Research and Development (R&D) laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), successfully developed a new generation Man-portable Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (MP-AUVs), designed specifically  for Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations.

• With this, India now joins the group of countries including, the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), France, China, Sweden, among others, that have developed MP-AUVs for various applications.

Key Features of MP-AUVs:
Real-time Detection: It comprises multiple AUVs equipped with side scan sonar and underwater cameras as primarily payloads which will help in real-time detection and classification of mine-like objects.
Algorithms: The new system is backed by deep-learning-based target recognition algorithms, enabling autonomous classification of threats and reducing both operator workload and overall mission time.
Communication System: Also, a robust underwater acoustic communication system has been integrated to facilitate the sharing of inter-AUV data during operations, ensuring enhanced situational awareness.
Capability: This newly developed system offers quick response capability with reduced operational risk and logistic footprint for naval mine warfare applications.
Field Trial Validation: The recently concluded field trials at NSTL Harbour( in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh,AP) successfully verified all key system parameters and confirmed the achievement of critical mission objectives.

• 2024 Paris Olympians Bommadevara (B.) Dhiraj and Ankita Bhakat scripted history becoming the 1st-ever Indian male and female recurve archers to win individual gold medals at the Asian Archery Championships.

Organised by: The 7-day long tournament was organised by the Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) and sponsored by Citi Group.
Key Participants: The event saw the participation of more than 200 archers from 30 countries across 10 events in archery i.e. 5 each in recurve and compound.
India’s Performance: Ankita Bhakat won her 1st gold medal in this category by defeating Paris 2024 Olympics silver medallist Nam Suhyeon (South Korea) by 7-3 in the final match.

• B. Dhiraj clinched his 1st ever gold medal in this category by defeating  his compatriot Rahul by 6-2 in the finals.
• In Compound (Women’s Individual) category, Indian archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated her compatriot Prithika by 147-145, claiming a gold medal, while Prithika secured silver medal.

New President of WAA: Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, former secretary general of Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) was elected the President of World Archery Asia (WAA) for a term of 4 years, during the WAA Congress held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

•  He will succeed Chung Eui-sun, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hyundai Moto Group, who had been serving as the President of WAA since 2005.

Renowned Environmentalist & Padma Shree Awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka Passed AwayIn November 2025, Renowned Environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka, famously known as “tree woman of India”, passed away at the age of 114 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She was born on June 30, 1911 in Gubbi Taluk, Tumakuru district in Karnataka.

• In 2019, she was honoured with Padma Shri, India’s 4th highest civilian honor, in the field of Social Work.

About Saalumarada Thimmakka:
Legacy: She is renowned for her lifelong dedication to tree conservation. She was fondly known as “Vriksha Mata” and the “Mother of Trees.”
Saalumarada Title: She earned the title ‘Saalumarada’ which means ‘row of trees’, after planting 385 banyan trees along a 4.5 kilometer (km) long stretch between Hulikal and Kudur in Ramanagara district, part of Bengaluru South, Karnataka.

• She and her husband planted and nurtured more than 8,000 trees along highways of Karnataka.

Awards: Over the decades, she received 12 major awards for her social-environment work like: National Citizen’s Award (1995), Nadoja Award from the Hampi University (Karnataka) (2010), Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra Award (1997), Karnataka Kalpavalli Award (2000), and Godfrey Phillips Bravery Award (2006).
Global Recognition: An American environmental organisation, Thimmakka’s Resources for Environmental Education (TREE), was named in her honour, reflecting international appreciation for her environmental contributions.

Leadership: He served multiple terms as the President of the INC and was the  PM of the interim Indian Government between 1946 and 1950.
PM of India: He became the first PM of independent India and held office continuously for nearly 17 years, from 1947 until his death on May 27, 1964.
