On July 4, 2020 China’s Badminton player and 2 time Olympic Champion, Lin Dan announced his retirement due to his physical capabilities and injuries. He won gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. He was born on October 14, 1983 Longyan, China.
- As per the Chinese Badminton Association, he had submitted a formal retirement letter a few days ago.

iii.He became the 1st men’s singles player to retain the Olympic gold medal by winning in 2008 and defending his title in 2012. He also won a hat-trick of world titles between 2006-09.
