MNRE Hosted 3rd International Conference on Green Hydrogen in New Delhi, Delhi
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) hosted the 3rd International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2025) held from November 11 to November 12, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The two-day conference brought together policymakers, scientists, researchers, and industry leaders to develop a roadmap for India’s green hydrogen transition.
About ICGH 2025:
Organised by: The conference was organised by MNRE and the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), MoS&T.
Key Launches and Announcements: While addressing the high-level session, Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that the Government of India (GoI) will establish 4 hydrogen valleys with a total investment of Rs 485 crore across the country to demonstrate the complete hydrogen value chain i.e. from production and storage to transport and utilization.
- During the inaugural session of the conference, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, MNRE launched the official logo of the NGHM which was selected from over 2,500 entries nationwide, representing India’s commitment to sustainable and clean energy.
- The Union Minister also announced a Rs 100 crore call for proposals for pilot projects to develop innovative technologies for producing green hydrogen from biomass and waste materials.

MoD Signs Rs 2,095.70 cr deal with BDL to ProcureINVAR Anti-Tank Guided missiles
In November 2025, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract worth Rs 2,095.70 crore (cr) with the state run Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) under the ‘Buy (Indian)’ category for the procurement of INVAR Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs).
- The contract was signed by senior officials of the MoD and representatives of BDL in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Defence(MoD) in New Delhi, Delhi.

Inauguration of Hydroelectric Project: PM Narendra Modi and King Jigme Khesar jointly inaugurated the 1,020-Megawatt (MW) Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project, a run-of-the-river scheme on the Punatsangchhu River, at Thinleygang in Wangdue Phodrang district (Bhutan), marking the bilateral cooperation in hydropower between India and Bhutan.
- The project is built with Indian financial and technical assistance, encompassing 70% loan assistance and 30% grant, amounting to around Rs.7,290 crores.
Global Peace Prayer Festival: Attended the Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual ties between India and Bhutan.

Renewable Energy: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to strengthen cooperation between India and Bhutan in Renewable E energy (RE). Padma Bhushan Awardee Vaidyeswaram Rajaraman, Pioneer of India’s Science and Computer Education Passed Away
In November 2025, Professor Vaidyeswaran Rajaraman, widely regarded as the “Pitamaha” of Computer Science education in India, passed away at the age of 92 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He was born on 8 September 1933 in Erode, Tamil Nadu(TN).
- In 1998, Prof. Rajaraman was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, in the field of science and technology.

About Prof. Vaidyeswaran Rajaraman:
Academic Milestone: He joined the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur(Uttar Pradesh, UP), where in 1965, he was instrumental in establishing India’s first formal academic programme in Computer Science(CS).
- In 1987, he proposed the creation of the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme to bridge the IT(Information Technology) talent gap in India.
- Served as IBM (International Business Machines) Professor of Information Technology at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru(Karnataka), from 1994 to 2001.
Supercomputing Pioneer: From 1982 to 1994, he served as Chairman of the Supercomputer Education and Research Centre (SERC) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru where he spearheaded the development of indigenous supercomputing and parallel computing capabilities to support advanced research and national projects.
Legacy in Education: Rajaraman authored over 20 textbooks on computer science, which continue to be used in universities across India.
- Published 70+ papers and authored the acclaimed History of Computing in India (1955–2010).
e-Governance initiatives: As a member of Karnataka’s Technical Advisory Panel (1985–2014), he guided key digital initiatives like Bhoomi and Kaveri, shaping India’s early e-governance.
Awards & Honours: He received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (1976), which is one of India’s highest science awards, instituted in 1958 by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

World Diabetes Day 2025 – November 14
The United Nations (UN) commemorates World Diabetes Day (WDD) every year on 14 November to raise global awareness about the impact of diabetes, the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, effective treatment, and equitable access to care.

Background:
Origin: WDD was established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to address the growing health threat posed by diabetes.
Observation: Since 1991, WDD has been observed globally on 14 November by the IDF.
UN Recognition: On 20 December 2006, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution A/RES/61/225, designating 14 November as an official UN Day to be observed annually starting in 2007.
First UN WDD: The first UN-recognized World Diabetes Day was observed on 14 November 2007.
Logo: The blue circle, introduced by IDF in 2006 as the universal symbol of diabetes, represents global unity in fighting the disease and was incorporated into IDF’s hummingbird logo in 2023.
Significance of Date: 14 November marks the birth anniversary of Sir Frederick Grant Banting, the Canadian scientist who co-discovered insulin in 1922.
- He, along with John James Rickard Macleod, received the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of insulin.
