On 2nd February 2021, Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra launched Intellectual Property Rights Scheme and Quality Testing & Certification Scheme to provide financial support to the innovative startups to file for IT patents.
Both the schemes will be implemented by the Maharashtra State Innovation Society(MSInS) under the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra.
Intellectual Property Rights Scheme:
Under this Scheme more than 125 to 150 startups will be supported in the first phase of the scheme with a financial support of upto Rs.2 lakh for Domestic Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Applications and upto Rs.10 Lakh for International IPR Applications.
Quality Testing & Certification Scheme:
Under this scheme, the startups will receive around Rs. 2 lakh for quality testing and certification of the startup’s idea.
Eligibility:
i.The startups should be recognised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India.
ii.The startup should be incorporate in Maharashtra and it should be registered with the Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS)
iii.The annual revenue should not have exceeded Rs.1 crore in any financial year.
iv.The startup should not have raised funds exceeding Rs.3 crore.
Note:
Maharashtra has ranked 2nd in the India Innovation Index released by Niti Aayog and the state government aims to become number 1 in various skill development.

i.Maharashtra State Innovation Society is a nodal agency to boost the innovation driven entrepreneurial ecosystem in Maharashtra.
ii.It was established under the aegis of Maharashtra State Innovative Startup Policy 2018, released in February 2018
