Dear Uncle
I hope this letter finds you and your family in the best of health . I got to know this from my father that you would be retiring in two months from your government job. I know you since childhood and hence it becomes my responsibility to advise you on your retirement plans. Being an employee of a bank , I would definitely wish that you have a stable income after retirement and not rush for money here and there.
My suggestion to you would be investing in the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana is a pension scheme announced by the Government of India exclusively for senior citizens. It provides an assured return of 8% p.a. payable monthly (equivalent to 8.30% p.a. effective) for 10 years. Also , on the death of the pensioner during the policy term of 10 years, the purchase price shall be refunded to the beneficiary. Important benefit of it is that Pension is payable at the end of each period, during policy term of 10 years, on monthly/ quarterly/ half-yearly/ yearly basis as chosen by the pensioner.
