Amul ranked among India’s most valued brands, the only FMCG in the top 3 listIn March 2025, London, the United Kingdom(UK) based YouGov, an international online research data and analytics technology group released the ‘India Value Rankings 2025’Amazon based in Washington, United States of America (USA), Flipkart Private Limited based in Bengaluru, Karnataka and Anand Milk Union Limited(Amul) based in Anand, Gujarat are the top three most valued brands in India.

  • Amul (Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation), India’s largest milk cooperative, is the only Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brand to secure a position in the top three.

i.The YouGov India Value Rankings 2025 provide insights into the most valued brands based on consumer preferences. The rankings cover six key sectors, including airlines, consumer electronics, automobiles, general insurance, travel booking platforms, and electronic (e)-commerce.

ii.The report includes:

  • Top 10 brands ranked by national representation, gender, age, and city tier.
  • Brands with the most improved value perception.
  • Best and worst brands across different industries.
  • Consumer lifestyle insights shaping value perception.

iii.It is based on insights from 1.3 lakh urban Indian consumers and evaluates brands across various sectors.

Key Points:

i.Amazon leads with a score of 56.5, followed by Flipkart at 53.0, and Amul at 52.8. Amul holds the No.1 position in Tier-2 cities and remains among the top three in Tier-1 and Tier-3 cities. The brand also ranks third among men and second among women.

ii.MakeMyTrip Limited and Amazon both saw a 4.7-point rise as compared to previous year.

iii.EaseMyTrip recorded the highest growth with a 5.8-point increase.

iv.Shopclues and Snapdeal struggle with poor consumer perception regarding value for money in the e-commerce category.

Best and Worst Brands by Sector:

i.Airlines: Air India Limited and IndiGo Airways Limited rank highest, while China Southern Airlines  and Scoot Pte Limited score the lowest.

ii.Consumer Electronics: Samsung Electronics Company Limited leads, while Alienware and Electrolux rank at the bottom.

iii.Automobiles: Tata Motors Limited and Maruti Suzuki India Limited have the best ratings, while Datsun and Triumph Motorcycles Limited rank the lowest.

iv.General Insurance: SBI (State Bank of India) General Insurance Company Limited and Tata AIG General Insurance Company Private Limited top the list, while Coco by DHFL (Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited) and Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Limited have the weakest perception.

v.Travel Booking Platforms: MakeMyTrip Limited is rated the best, while GuestHouser and Travelguru receive the lowest scores.

Key Consumer Trends:

i.The report highlights important factors influencing consumer choices in India. Brand reputation plays a major role, with 57% of urban shoppers preferring well-known brands.

ii.Insurance awareness is also high, as 64% of consumers consider comprehensive coverage essential for financial security.

iii.Additionally, affordability remains a priority, with 57% of buyers focusing on the lowest prices while shopping.

Consumer Preferences by Gender

Men prefer brands like Tata Motors and Air India, highlighting their interest in automobiles and national airlines, while women favor Swiggy and Malabar Gold & Diamonds, showing a preference for convenience services and jewellery.
