History:
Invention: Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the WWW in 1989 while he was employed at Geneva (Switzerland)’s CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research).
Foundational Tools: He coined the term ‘World Wide Web’ and wrote the first World Wide Web server ‘httpd‘ and the first client program ‘WorldWideWeb’ in October 1990.
First Website:The world’s first website, ‘info.cern.ch’, went live on August 6, 1991, marking the beginning of the public World Wide Web.
HTTP Release: Later, in collaboration with Robert Cailliau, a Belgian informatics engineer, they developed the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and released it in 1992.

Introduction: The WWW is also known as the Web or W3, is a collection of websites or web pages stored in web servers and connected to local computers through the Internet.
Purpose: It was created to help people share and find information easily, using links that connect different pages.
- These websites contain text pages, digital images, audio, videos, etc
- The users can access the content of these websites over the internet using their devices, such as computers, laptops, cell phones, etc.
Components of Web: There are three basic components in the Web, namely Uniform Resource Locator(URL), Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP) and Hypertext Markup Language(HTML).
- Lately, the web components also include Web servers, Cloud storage systems, User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) systems, Web Frameworks, Database and Web Hosting systems.
