World Rotaract Day is annually observed on 13th March to recognise and appreciate the service provided by the Rotaractors, members of Rotaract Clubs, across the globe (Roctract, meaning rotary in action).
The day also celebrates the success and importance of the Rotaract program.
- 13th March 2022 marks the observance of the 54th anniversary of the formation of the first Rotaract club in 1968 in North Carolina, United States of America (USA).
World Rotaract Week 2022:
i.World Rotaract Week is annually observed across the globe during the week of 13 March to honour the beginning of the first club in 1968.
ii.The World Rotaract Week offers a platform for the Rotarians (Member of Rotary club) and Rotaractors around the world to celebrate the attainment and importance of the Rotaract program.
- The 2022 World Rotaract Week was observed from 7th to 13th March 2022.
About Rotaract Club:
i.Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 and older to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.
ii.Rotaract, which was initially a program of Rotary International, later elevated its status to resemble that of Rotary clubs.
About Rotary Club:
i.Paul Percy Harris, a Chicago attorney, founded the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, which later became the humanitarian organisation “Rotary International” (RI).
ii.Rotary is made up of three parts: Rotary clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation.
iii.“Service Above Self” and “He Profits Most Who Serves Best” are the official mottoes of Rotary.
iv.The Presidential Theme of Rotary for the year 2021-2022 is “Serve to Change Lives”.
