Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a bone disease characterized by the reduced bone mineral density and bone mass. This condition eventually leads to higher risk of fracture.  It is reported that about 2 million fractures occur each year due to osteoporosis. The common symptoms of the disorder are neck pain, spine pain and lower back pain.

Osteoporosis is most commonly seen in post-menopausal women. One in two post-menopausal women have osteoporosis. However bone demineralization may start as early as the late 30s if calcium and vitamin D intakes are insufficient. Lack of physical activity is another risk factor for osteoporosis.
