The World Digestive Health Day(WDHD) is annually observed across the globe on 29th May by the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO). The day focuses on the digestive disease with an aim to increase general public awareness of prevention, prevalence, diagnosis, management and treatment of the disease.
The WDHD is organised by WGO in partnership with the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
The theme of World Digestive Health Day 2021 is “Obesity: An Ongoing Pandemic”.
WDHD 2021:
Aim:
To raise awareness of obesity and the impact on the development of comorbidities and subsequently the effect on life expectancy
Campaign:
The campaign of the WDHD is led by Co-Chairs Profs. Lilian Kow (Australia); Reem Sharaiha (USA); James Toouli (Australia) and Guilherme Macedo (Portugal) and guided by the Steering Committee with global representation and expertise.
