World Creativity and Innovation Day 2022

The United Nations(UN)’s World Creativity and Innovation Day is annually observed across the globe on 21st April to raise the awareness of the role of creativity and innovation in all aspects of human development.

Background:

i.‘World Creativity and Innovation Day’ was first commemorated by more than 50 countries across the globe on 21 April 2002. 

ii.The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution A/RES/71/284 on 27th April 2017 and proclaimed the 21st April of every year as the World Creativity and Innovation Day

  • The first UN-recognised ‘World Creativity and Innovation Day’ was observed on 21st April 2018. 

World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15-21

World Creativity and Innovation Week(WCIW) April 15-21, founded in 2001, begins on the birth anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci (15th April) and ends on the World Creativity and Innovation Day (April 21).

The observance of the WCIW provides a platform to encourage and enable new thinking to create new futures. 

ResiliArt:

i.ResiliArt is a global movement of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched on 15th April 2020, to capture the resilience and grievances of artists and cultural professionals in the face of the COVID-19 crisis through virtual debates.

ii.This aims to ensure the continuity of conversations, data sharing, and advocacy efforts long after the pandemic subsides.
