On October 1, 2020 West Bengal (WB) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched ‘Pathashree Abhijan’ scheme for Road Repair. The scheme has been launched to repair 7, 000 stretches of road which includes 12, 000 kilometres of road in a time-bound manner.
Key Points:
i.An amount of INR 500 Crores has been allocated for the scheme, and the works will be finished by December-January, 2021.
ii.The list of roads to be repaired has been collected through ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ initiative of the Bengal Government.
iii.Mamata Banerjee highlighted that WB has constructed over 3.16 lakh kilometres of Road stretches in eight years and tops the list of constructing in India.
‘Didi Ke Bolo’:
i.The campaign was launched in July, 2019 to address public grievances.
ii.The state government launched a website, and Telephone number through which people can register complaints to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
