Vodafone Idea Limited(VIL), India’s leading telecom service provider, has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Agency(APSDMA) and Celltick, the world’s largest cell broadcast-based products provider to Launch India’s 1st cell broadcasting Public Warning System (PWS).
- Andhra Pradesh(AP) became the 1st Indian state to implement Celltick’s state-of-the-art cell broadcasting PWS .It used to support for its state’s CAP-compliant Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)
- Countries like the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Israel, UAE, Australia have deployed such kind of systems.
Background:
The world bank aided project for commissioning the state of the art Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) was awarded to the consortium led by Celltick following the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process
Features of cell broadcasting Public Warning System (PWS):
i.This Cell Broadcast based emergency mass alerting system will provide real-time geo-targeted warning alerts securely in over ten Indian languages during any kind of natural or man-made disasters to subscribers of Vodafone Idea(Vi) in AP.
ii.Celltick’s state-of-the-art Cell Broadcast Entity (CBE) and its Cell Broadcast Center (CBC) deployed in the Vi network, will deliver emergency warning alerts on Vi’s 4G, 3G and 2G networks in Andhra Pradesh, and on 5G in future.
iii.The CBC platform enables the authorities to use the Vi Networks by subscribers of Vi in AP.
iv.Cell Broadcast based Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) which is immune to traffic loads and network jams, has the capability to deliver emergency messages to the people during crucial hours of disasters, without the mobile numbers of citizens in the affected area.
v.Celltick’s CB system supports global standards including EU-Alert, EMTEL, ETWS, EENA, ATIS, amongst others.
