On September 8, 2020, Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), through which Take-Home ration will now be manufactured and supplied by Women self-help groups (SHGs). Â
The agreement between WFP and SRLM’s representatives Yogesh Kumar, Mission Director, SRLM and Adeel Abbas was signed today in the presence of the State’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath.
Key Notes:
i.Through this collaboration, around 200 women SHG enterprises will gain business with Rs 1, 200 crores annual turnover.Â
ii.The SHG network will help reach at least 33.78 lakh beneficiaries to provide 240 days of livelihood to each woman.
iii.The main aim of the MoU is to initiate local production of take-home-ration at block level with back-up of extensive SHG network of rural livelihood mission covering 18 districts, 204 blocks and 42, 228 anganwadi centres.
iv.The eighteen districts which would be covered under the project include Aligarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Aurraiya, Baghpat, Banda, Bijnor, Chandauli, Etawah, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Kannauj, Kheri, Lucknow, Mainpuri, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Sultanpur and Unnao.
v.All 75 districts and 824 blocks will be covered under the programme.
