On May 5, 2020, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath launched the “Ayush Kavach-Covid app” that will provide health-related tips and information about ayurvedic medicines to people during the coronavirus crisis.Key Points:
i.About Ayush Kavach-Covid App: The mobile app Ayush Kavach has been developed by the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) Department of UP in view of the COVID-19 health crisis.
ii.The App provides measures to boost immunity based on natural resources.
iii.The app is designed to tell users how commonly available kitchen ingredients such as tulsi, clove and cinnamon can be used to enhance the body’s immunity to fight against COVID-19. It also offers users the opportunity to seek advice from experts.
iv.Yogi Adityanath also added that in Ayurveda and the ancient traditions of India, there are many facts and tips related to boosting immunity which is helpful in fighting these types of viruses.
v.The Ayush Kavach-COVID app will deliver information about Ayurveda and traditional medicines and prescriptions in simple language with ease among the masses.
vi.The CM also said that the state’s “Jansunwai portal” has started registration of migrants from other states in Uttar Pradesh and of those from UP returning to the state.
vii.This movement is to be accompanied by enhanced medical screening facilities and monitoring of quarantine facilities. For those returning from abroad, screening facilities shall be in place at Lucknow, Varanasi and Hindon airports.
viii.Yogi Adityanath also made significant announcements on the need to prepare an action plan for foot-and-mouth disease immunisation of milch cattle, the supply of quality food through community kitchens and the preparation of a timetable for mandi operations to avoid overcrowding.
