On December 15, 2020 Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh launched a first of its kind campaign, ‘Varasat’(natural succession) drive to end property and related disputes in rural areas of the state. This 2 month campaign will continue till February 15, 2021.
UP govt to double the farmers’ income will launch ‘Kisan Kalyan Mission’.
‘Varasat’ Campaign
Aim of the Campaign
i.To eliminate the exploitation of the villagers in the name of ‘Varasat’ of land and property.
ii.This will end the long pending land disputes and also to control the land mafia who normally target the disputed lands particularly in the rural areas.
Note
Farmers do not get loans from banks due to varasat.
Highlights of the Campaign:
Register for Varasat
i.Lekhpal, a clerical government post in UP, whose duty is to maintain Village revenue account and village land records will approach the villagers and take their applications online to register the ‘Varasat’.
ii.People will get both offline and online facilities to register.
iii.A special counter will be opened at the Tehsil-level for the people who have land in the village but live at some other places to apply for the same.
iv.People can also apply from the community Facility Centres.
v.Helpline is also being launched to assist people who face difficulty in filing the application.
Revenue board website
All the information related to Varasat will be uploaded on the revenue board website on the basis on which the progress of the scheme will be reviewed.
Benefit of the Campaign
The villagers can get their names registered in the land records(Khatauni).
‘Kisan Kalyan Mission’

All the assembly constituencies of the state will be covered by the mission.
Programs Organised
Under the mission, various programs, exhibitions of agriculture and associate sectors will be organised across the state including the products of MSME sector units and livelihood missions
Scientific farming will explained by farmers, scientist and workers associated with Agriculture Department and also information about the govt schemes will be provided in the farmers meetings that will be organised
Benefits Provided
During the event, the farmers will be given benefit under various schemes of agriculture department
Different departments of state govt work together
Many departments of state government like agriculture marketing Mandi Parishad, Horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, sugarcane food and supply and Panchayati Raj will work together, under the Kisan Kalyan mission

On October 9, 2020 Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister of Goa in the press conference organized at Krishi Bhavan at Tonca with Postmaster General Vinod Kumar, stated that the state government has tied up with India Posts to enroll 11,000 farmers in the Pradhan Mantri(PM) Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
