On November 25, 2025, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), and Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), launched the fourth edition of the “Nayi Chetna-Initiative for Change”, a nationwide campaign, in New Delhi, Delhi.

Nayi Chetna Campaign 4.0:
Organizer: The campaign is organized under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), under MoRD, and will run in all 36 States and Union Territories (UTs) till December 23, 2025.
- The campaign is led by Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the villages.
Aim: The initiative aims to promote respect, safety, and self-reliance for women, raise awareness against gender-based violence, encourage safe mobility for women, recognize women’s economic contributions, and promote shared responsibilities in families.
Empowerment: The initiative is aimed at promoting SHG enterprises, Credit access, Skill development, and “Lakhpati Didi” model to increase women’s income.
About Lakhpati Didi: It is an initiative by the Government of India (GOI) under the DAY-NRLM to help rural women earn at least Rs.1 lakh per year by strengthening their livelihoods and improving income opportunities.
About Nayi Chetna:
Overview: Nayi Chetna-Initiative for Change campaign focuses on ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ensuring women’s safety and dignity, promoting gender equality, and strengthening women empowerment across India. It was first launched in 2022.
Purpose: The campaign aims to raise awareness about all forms of GBV such as physical, emotions, economic, digital, and social, helps women and communities to report violence without fear or stigma, and promote women empowerment through access to livelihoods, credit, skills and training, safe mobility, and recognition of unpaid care work.
Structure: It includes SHGs, Village Organizations (VOs), Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs), Panchayati Raj institutions, and multiple ministries.
Campaign Evolution: The first edition of Nayi Chetna campaign reached around 3.5 crore people, Nayi Chetna (2.0) (2023) engaged approximately 5.5 crore participants, Nayi Chetna (3.0) (2024) strengthened support structures such as Gender Resource Centres.
