Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurate ‘AIIFA STEELEX-2025’ in Mumbai, Maharashtra

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD), and Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated All India Induction Furnaces Association (AIIFA) Steelex 2025 or Steel Mahakumbh, and 37th National Conference on Sustainable Steel at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • During the event, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the Green Certificate and the official event souvenir.
  • Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also unveiled plans to develop Gadchiroli(Maharashtra) as India’s new steel city, backed by substantial investments and community-focused initiatives.

About AIIFA STEELEX-2025:

Theme: The Steel Mahakumbh was held from September 19 to 20, 2025 with the theme “A STEEL MAHAKUMBH – One Industry, One Destination”.

Organizer: The event was organized by the AIIFA Sustainable Steel Manufacturers Association, in collaboration with the Steel Manufacturers Association of Maharashtra (SMAM), with support from the Ministry of Steel (MoS) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Highlights of AIIFA STEELEX-2025:

Green Certificate: Inaugurated Green Certificate, a formal recognition for steel manufacturers who excel in sustainable practices, including Decarbonization of steel production, Energy efficiency, and Adoption of green and advanced steelmaking technologies.

  • It is aimed at encouraging environmentally responsible practices in the steel industry.

Souvenir: It is a comprehensive publication capturing the highlights of the event, including insights from industry leaders and participants, innovations and technologies in the steel sector, and developments in sustainable steel manufacturing.

MoUs signed: During the event, the Government of Maharashtra signed nine Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) worth Rs.80,962 crores for industrial projects.

Steel Manufacturing: Signed MoUs with Jaydeep Steelwork India Private Limited, Nagpur (Maharashtra), worth Rs.1,375 crores for an integrated steel plant; Sumedh Tools & Hariom Pipe Industries, Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), worth Rs.5,135 crores for manufacturing projects; Icon Steel India Private Limited, Chandrapur (Maharashtra), worth Rs.850 crores for sponge iron plant.

  • It also includes G R Krishna Ferro Alloys, Mul (Maharashtra) (Rs. 1,482 crores) for sponge iron project; and Jindal Stainless, Raigad (Maharashtra) (Rs.41,580 crores) for stainless steel plant.

Other Projects: It includes MoU with Narbheram Power and Steel Private Limited (NPSPL) Advanced Material, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra) (Rs.5,440 crores) to establish a Critically Advanced Lithium Battery Material and Carbon Complex.

  • It also includes Filtrum Autocomp, Satara (Maharashtra) (Rs.100 crores) for automotive steel parts; and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) (Rs.4,000 crores) for pumped storage hydro projects.

Established: AIIFA Sustainable Steel Manufacturers Association, (formerly known as All India Induction Furnaces Association), based in New Delhi(Delhi), was established in 2010.

Industry Representation: It is the premier industry body in India’s steel sector, representing over 1,800 members, including furnaces, rolling mills, casting units, and fabricators.
