Piyush-Goyal-e-launched--National-GIS-enabled-Land-Bank-systemOn 27th August, 2020 Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal e-launched the National GIS(Geographic Information System)-enabled Land Bank system (https://iis.ncog.gov.in/parks) for six states. The system is developed by the integration of the Industrial Information System (IIS) with State GIS systems. 

The platform will provide a database of industrial areas/clusters across the country and will serve as a one-stop solution to the free and easy accessibility of all industrial information.

Supporting Organizations:

The initiative is supported by Invest India, National Center of Geo-Informatics (NCoG), National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG).

Key Points:

i.The platform will serve as a prototype and will be developed based on inputs from states to make it as a platform for effective, transparent mechanism of land identification and procurement.

ii.Steps are being taken to integrate other States & Union Territories into the platform by December, 2020. 

iii.The minister also discussed about the issues of pushing industrial manufacturing in the country, attracting investments, pushing the approach of ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP), and promoting a National Movement Towards ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’.

About IIS:

i.The IIS portal is a GIS-enabled database of industrial areas/clusters across the states. 

ii.Around 3,300 industrial parks across 31 States/UTs covering 475, 000-hectare land have been mapped on the system. 

iii.It includes forest, drainage, raw material heat maps (agricultural, horticulture, mineral layers).

iv.IIS also holds the information about rail, road, air and port connectivity and other common facilities in and around the manufacturing clusters.

v.It will also provide Links to State GIS Portals and State Land Banks.

i.Industrial Cluster Upgradation of common infrastructure facilities and connectivity. There will be availability of industrial land/land banks for promoting new investments and making information available on the Industrial Information System (IIS).
