In December 2025, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Madhavrao (M.)Scindia, Ministry of Communications, chaired the Apex Council Meeting under the Bharat 6G Mission, in New Delhi, Delhi.

Highlights of Apex Council Meeting:
Key Dignitaries: Union Minister of State (MoS) Dr. Chandrasekhar Pemmasani, Ministry of Communications; Neeraj Mittal, Secretary (Telecom); Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor(PSA); and other officials from key ministries; representatives from academia, Research & Development (R&D) institutions, and members of B6GA, were present at the meeting.
Progress Made by B6GA: During the meeting, B6GA presented a detailed update of its ongoing efforts across 07 Working Group (WGs) spanning across spectrum, devices and components, technologies, outreach and 6G use cases.
- It further highlighted that it has expanded from initial 16 founding members to over 84 organizations including startups, academia, industry leaders, R&D institutions and Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
Key Priority Areas :Union Minister Scindia outlined four priorities for B6GA i.e. to continue leapfrogging, to examine the entire value chain end-to-end, to break down complex technological challenges into solvable components, and to set measurable quarterly targets for each WG.

Release of Booklets: During the meeting, Union Minister Jyotiraditya.M.Scindia released three booklets that document the establishment, performance and impact of 100 5G Use Case Labs.
- The 5G Use Case Lab: From Infrastructure to Innovation: It covers the creation and successful operation of labs across higher-education institutions;
- 5G Lab Book-Edition 1: Experiments in 5G Core, 5G NR & Use Cases: It offers technical, experiment-oriented guidance for researchers and students working on end-to-end 5G systems;
- 5G Hackathon Book: It demonstrates the nationwide innovation challenge conducted through the labs. It features prototypes across various sectors like: disaster management, healthcare, agriculture, industrial automation and security.
Gradation Awards: Union Minister Jyotiraditya M.Scindia also conferred the Gradation Awards that aim to recognise the best-performing 5G Use Case Labs under the ‘Excellent Category’.
- This year, 04 institutions namely, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh; Banasthali Vidyapith, Banasthali University in Rajasthan; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee (AMRUT Centre of Urban Planning and Capacity Building, ACUPCB) in Uttarakhand and Thapar University in Patiala, Punjab, were honoured for their exemplary innovation, societal impact and industry collaboration.
