On February 22, 2022, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) launched the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAYG) Dashboard to monitor the implementation of the scheme.
- This portal has been developed on the lines of the Government’s policy of Zero tolerance against corruption by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to provide complete transparency in the implementation of the PMAYG.
- The dashboard will be used by the stakeholders including Sarpanchs of villages to the Members of Parliament (MPs) of constituencies of PMAYG for monitoring and managerial purposes.
Benefits of Portal:
i.It provides end-to-end insights regarding the physical and financial progress of the PMAY-G scheme just at a glance. This will cut the need of spending a large amount of time reviewing and analyzing different reports to get the desired information.
ii.It will help in analyzing the gap/delays in release of instalments, speed of house construction, age-wise, category-wise data analysis to find anomalies, outliers, discrepancies etc. It also illustrates the trend analysis for sanction and completion progress.
iii.MoRD will also issue guidelines to the States regarding the use of dashboard.

About PMAY-G:
Launched in 2016, PMAY-G is a revamped rural housing programme namely ‘Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY)’ initiated in January 1996. PMAY-G was introduced to boost the “Housing for All” scheme. The program envisages the completion of 2.95 crore PMAY-G houses with all basic amenities by the year 2024.
- As on 21st February 2022, a total of 1.73 crores PMAY-G houses have been completed against the allocated cumulative target of 2.62 crore houses.
- Under this, the Government also aims at improving the speed and quality of houses construction, ensuring timely release of funds to beneficiaries, direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries’ accounts, technical assistance to beneficiaries, stringent monitoring through MIS-AwaasSoft and AwaasApp.

The Cabinet approved the proposal of the Department of Rural Development for continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) beyond March 2021 till March 2024 as per the existing norms. Under this extension the target is to complete the remaining 155.75 lakh houses from the cumulative target of 2.95 crore houses in rural areas.
