Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministry of Education (MoE), has inaugurated ‘I-Hub Foundation’ during the 100 Cube Startup Conclave held at Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Sambalpur in Odisha on 1st March 2024.
- During the conclave, several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed between industry partners and IIM Sambalpur and IIM Mumbai for the establishment of the Center of Management Education in Angul, Odisha.
About I-Hub Foundation:
i.I-Hub foundation will operate as a physical and virtual incubator while networking with the various trenches of the entrepreneurial eco-system.
ii.This will focus on ideas which will generate wealth and also be a social benefactor.
iii.The foundation nurtures and supports innovative ventures across diverse sectors such as textiles, arts & culture, agriculture, healthcare, financial & digital inclusivity, tribal entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
Note: IIM Sambalpur I-Hub foundation is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) registered under section 8 of Companies Act, 2013 in November 2023.
About 100 Cube Startup Conclave:
i.The conclave is symposium of startups, industry, academics, government, students and many more.
ii.100 Cube Startup initiative aims to create 100 Start-ups each with an average worth of Rs. 100 crore by 2036.
iii.The initiative was inaugurated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on 11 February 2024 at Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar(Odisha), Research and Entrepreneurship Park (REP).
Note: Odisha (formerly Orissa) will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2036. Orissa Province was established on 1 April 1936, consisting of the Odia-speaking districts of Bihar and Orissa Province
IIM Sambalpur, IG Drones Partners to Launch 1st ever Drone CoE:
During the conclave, IIM Sambalpur signed a MoU with IG Drones, India’s premier Drone Tech and Analytics company to collaborate on cutting-edge applications of drone technology, specifically focusing on areas such as Business Analytics, Management Strategies, and Public Policy.
- Under this MoU, IG Drones will launch the first ever drone centre of excellence (CoE) at Delhi Campus of IIM Sambalpur.
- IG Drones is Noida(Delhi National Capital Region(NCR) based IG Drones became the first company to sign a MoU with IIM
About the Drone CoE:
i.The CoE will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in drone technology.
ii.The CoE trains different stakeholders and guides young minds to work in the drone sector.
IIM Sambalpur & Apna.co Partners to Support Entrepreneurship
During the conclave, Apna.co, a platform for job seekers and professional networking, has signed an MoU with IIM Sambalpur to promote innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
Key Points:
i.The MoU aims to explore a diverse array of innovation and research domains across areas like textiles, arts and culture, agriculture, healthcare, financial and digital inclusivity, tribal entrepreneurship and sustainability.
ii.The MoU also impact technological research and development (R&D), sustainable solutions, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), logistics and digital marketing.
Key People: The event was attended by Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur; Manoj Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai(Maharashtra); PM Prasad, Managing Director (MD) of Coal India Limited(CIL); Amrendu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Steel Authority Of India Ltd (SAIL); and Jayanti Mahapatra, Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Manikstu Agro Private Limited.
