Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), launched revised schemes for Cash Awards, National Welfare and Pension to sportspersons, Web Portal for Schemes of Department of Sports (https://dbtyas-sports.gov.in/) and National Sports Development Fund website (nsdf.yas.gov.in) in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The Department of Sports is one of the two departments of MoYAS with the other one being the Department of Youth Affairs.
The MoYAS has made significant amendments to the following schemes in order to make them more user-friendly, accessible, and transparent.
- Scheme of Cash Award to Medal Winners in International Sports Events and their Coaches,
- Scheme of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare for Sportspersons (PDUNWFS) and
- Scheme of Pension to Meritorious Sportsperson
Modified Features:
i. Any individual sportsperson can directly apply for all three schemes as per his/her eligibility.
- Prior to this, applications were submitted through Sports Federations/SAI, which required a lengthy submission process.
ii.To facilitate prompt submission and further approval of cash awards, candidates must now apply online for cash award schemes within six months of the event’s closing date.
- To speed up processing, the verification procedures in all three schemes have been greatly simplified.
iii. The scheme has been modified to ensure that the coach(es) receive their cash award in a timely manner.
iv.Pension benefits have also been extended to the athletes of the Deaflympics.
Implications Of the New Modifications
i. This progress will reinforce Digital India by empowering citizens and bridging the gap between the government and citizens, systems and facilities, challenges and solutions.
- It will assist in accomplishing the objective of Minimum Government and Maximum Governance.
ii.In order to help athletes in record time, these revised schemes will offer more accountability and transparency.
MoYAS Launches Web Portals for Schemes of Department of Sports and National Sports Development Fund Website
Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, MoYAS, has launched a Web Portal for Schemes of the Department of Sports (https://dbtyas-sports.gov.in/), developed by the Department of Sports and the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) (nsdf.yas.gov.in), a dedicated interactive website.
- These portals have been launched to aid in the proper implementation of the revised schemes announced by MoYAS.
The Web Portal of Department of Sports
i. This is a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) website, which makes it easier for sportspersons to apply for benefits under the Department of Sports’ revised schemes.
- This online portal will allow athletes to track their applications in real time and authenticate themselves by sending a One-Time Password (OTP) to their registered mobile number.
ii.In order to fulfil the goals of the DBT Mission of the Government of India, the portal has also been integrated with DBT-MIS of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE), enabling funds to be transferred to sportspersons directly into their bank accounts.
iii.The portal will assist the Department in processing all applications in a timely bound manner. It will also be utilised to generate various sorts of necessary reports and manage the data of the sportspersons.
- The online resource will be regularly updated to reflect the demands of sportspersons and the prevalent situations.
The NSDF Website
i. The NSDF is supported by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from the Central and State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), private companies, and individuals, among others, for the promotion and development of sports in India.
- The NSDF corpus is utilised for the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) scheme, Infrastructure development by eminent sportspersons and sports organizations etc.
ii Through the platform(nsdf.yas.gov.in), any person, organization, or corporate entity can now make direct contributions to sportspersons, sporting facilities, and sporting events.
- This dedicated website will provide athletes as well as CSR contributors with easy and transparent access.
