  • During his visit, he presented the prestigious ‘President’s Colour to the Chhattisgarh Police for 25 years of dedicated service.
  • The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister (CM) Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister (DYCM) Vijay Sharma.
  • The initiatives launched during his visit aim to improve public safety, foster economic growth and contribute to the overall development of Chhattisgarh, aligning with the broader vision of a prosperous India by 2047.

Highlights of the Visit:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Presented ‘President’s Colour’:

i.On December 13 2024, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah presented the ‘President’s Colour to the Chhattisgarh Police in Raipur (Chhattisgarh), recognizing their exceptional service in maintaining law and order in the state.

  • The first ‘President’s Colour’ was awarded to the Indian Navy (IN) in 1951, after 25 years of dedicated service.
  • The Chhattisgarh Police earned this distinction within just 25 years of its establishment.

ii.The ‘President’s Colour’ is a testament to the Chhattisgarh Police’s valor, courage and commitment.

iii.The honor was presented during the ‘Silver Jubilee’ year of the force, celebrating its progress and contributions to state security.

iv.Fighting Naxalism: The Chhattisgarh Police have played a crucial role in combating Naxalism and ensuring peace in the region.

  • Over the past year, 287 Naxalites were neutralized, 1,000 were arrested, and 837 surrendered, marking significant progress in reducing Naxal influence in the state.

v.The Chhattisgarh Police have been successful in combating narcotics trafficking.

  • The state has been at the forefront of implementing the  Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act , further strengthening its fight against illicit trafficking.

Union Home Minister Facilitates 2 Landmark Agreements to Boost Chhattisgarh’s Forest and Dairy Sector:

The Ministry of Cooperation under Amit Shah’s leadership facilitated the agreements, focusing on strengthening the economic base of Chhattisgarh’s forest and dairy sectors. These initiatives aim to enhance the livelihood opportunities for the state’s rural population, especially tribal communities, by promoting sustainable development and local resource utilization.

  • These agreements are a key step in achieving PM Modi’s vision of Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperation) and growing the cooperative sector in Chhattisgarh.

ii.Two landmark agreements were signed in order to boost the minor forest produce and dairy sectors in Chhattisgarh.Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced two significant agreements.

  • The first agreement is between the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading and Development) Cooperative Federation Limited (CGMFPFED) and National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL), aims to certify forest produce for better market prices.
  • The second agreement is between the Chhattisgarh Government, Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Dairy Federation, and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), focuses on expanding dairy cooperatives in every village of the state.

iii.The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will provide free managerial support for dairy plants, cattle feed plants, and mineral mixture plants.

iv.The project will be funded through various Central Government schemes, loans from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and contributions from the State Government, ensuring a collaborative effort to strengthen the dairy sector.

Union Home Minister Attends Bastar Olympics Closing Ceremony

i.Amit Shah attended the closing ceremony of the ‘Bastar Olympics’ in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh where he praised the local athletes and the people for their spirit of unity and sportsmanship.

  • The ‘Bastar Olympics’ is an annual event held by the “Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare Department” to help the youth and other victims of naxal activities showcase their sports talent.
  • The event was started on November 5 2024, from the Bastanar block in the Jagdalpur district and spans across the 7 districts of Bastar (Kanker, Kondagaon, Bijapur, Bastar, Sukma, Dantewada, and Narayanpur).
  • This event marked the end of a successful sports initiative aimed at promoting regional talent and fostering a sense of community across Chhattisgarh.

Notable Initiatives in Chhattisgarh

  • ‘Niyad Nellanar’ scheme , an initiative aimed at transforming villages into a paradise.
  • Prime Minister Modi has approved 15,000 more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for families of those affected by Naxal violence, including those who surrendered.
  • Prime Minister Modi declared 15 November, the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day).
  • The government allocated Rs. 7,000 crore for the Janjatiya Adarsh Gram Yojana, Rs. 15,000 crore for the Prime Minister PVTG Development Mission, and provided facilities to 5 crore tribal people in 63,000 villages under the Janjatiya Unnat Gram Yojana.
