Union Home Minister Amit Shah Laid Foundation Stones for NFSU & CFSL Campus in Raipur, Chhattisgarh

In June 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) laid the foundation stones for National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science University (CFSL) campus in Atal Nagar- Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

  • He also virtually inaugurated the temporary campus of NFSU Raipur in Sejbahar(Chhattisgarh) and the Chhattisgarh i-Hub (innovation hub).
  • The establishment of both these facilities in New Raipur will bolster the criminal justice system of not only the state but across the entire central India.

Key Dignitaries:

Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister (CM) of Chhattisgarh; Amitabh Jain, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh; Govind Mohan, Secretary of MHA; Tapan Deka, Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB),among other senior officials were present at the event.

About Key Infrastructure Projects:

i.The NFSU campus will be developed at a cost of Rs 145 crore and the CFSL will be constructed at a cost of Rs 123 crore, with a total investment of 268 crore.

ii.Both these facilities are expected to be completed within 3 years.

iii.Once these campuses are fully operational, India is expected to annually generate approximately 32,000 trained forensic professionals.

Key Points:

i.While addressing the event, Union Minister Amit Shah highlighted about i-Hub’ initiative which will act as a bridge for the youth by providing support in startups i.e. from technology and marketing to contracts, as well as helping them access financial assistance.

ii.Union Minister Amit Shah highlighted that since the establishment of NFSU, 16 campuses have been initiated across India (7 operational, 9 approved, and 10 proposed) and the Government of India (GoI) is planning to expand NFSU to 26 major locations nationwide.

  • At present, Chhattisgarh has 4 regional forensic labs in Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Durg, and Jagdalpur.

ii.The global forensic technology market is currently valued at USD 20 billion, will grow at a 13% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), reaching USD 55 billion by 2036 and India is projected to hold a 9% share of this market.
