A 3-day Transforming Education Conference for Humanity (TECH) 2019 was jointly organized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), in partnership with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India(GoI) at Novotel hotel in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP) from December 10-12,2019.
Key Points:
i.The purpose of this conference is to discuss the importance of sports and digital education that they can prove very useful in establishing a peaceful and sustainable society.
ii.The education conference was attended by delegates from a dozen countries such as Bangladesh, Japan, Maldives, New Zealand, Quebec (Canada), South African and Sri Lanka & government nominated experts, policymakers, stakeholders, government officials, etc.
iii.The conference saw the discussion over the 3 themes which includes Transformative Pedagogies for SEL (Social and emotional learning) ,Reimagining Learning Spaces for Planetary Citizenship ,Data, Learning & Education – role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).It also focused on the Vizag Declaration on ‘Guidelines for digital learning’ that was adopted in 2018.
iv.The event also focused on unifying the agenda to create ‘Friends of UNESCO MGIEP’to promote digital technology in a sustainable way to achieve quality education equitably.
v.UNESCO MGIEP entered into a new partnership with Dell for the Dell Aarambh programme that aims to train teachers in schools all over India in how to use technology to teach students better.The training in Dell Aarambh will focus on teaching teachers the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and frontier technologies to stay relevant and invest in the sole purpose of achieving Quality Education.
