UNCTAD eWeek - December 04 to 08 2023The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) eWeek, previously known as UNCTAD eCommerce Week, is a global forum on development and the digital economy.

UNCTAD eWeek 2023 is being observed from 4th to 8th December 2023 at the International Conference Center of Geneva(CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • eCommerce Week 2022 was observed from 25th to 29th April 2022. 

Theme: The theme of UNCTAD eWeek 2023 is “Shaping the future of the digital economy.”

Organiser: UNCTAD eWeek 2023 is organised by UNCTAD in collaboration with ‘eTrade for all’ partners with the support of the Swiss government

Significance: 

The observance aims to highlight the need for global data and digital governance to bridge the digital and data divides and help developing countries and vulnerable populations benefit from the digital economy.

About UNCTAD eWeek:

i.Since its 1st edition as eCommerce Week in 2015, UNCTAD eWeek has become the leading global forum for decision-makers, experts, etc from all backgrounds to explore ways towards an inclusive and sustainable digital future.

ii.The forum provides a distinctive platform for discussing the developmental impact of e-commerce and the digital economy.

iii.Discussions encompass insights from regional and international partners, offering a comprehensive view of good practices.

iv.Participants gain valuable knowledge from successful implementations of good practices across diverse policy areas.

Note: The forum gathers Ministers, senior government officials, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), heads of international organizations, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders.

2023 Events:

eWeek 2023 is set to host a diverse array of events, spanning over 150 sessions, held in person, online, and in a hybrid format.

  •       The event combines high-level policy discussions with learning and experience-sharing sessions.
