UN head Ban Ki Moon appoints Mexican diplomat to head UN climate change office

UN Chief Ban Ki-moon has appointed a eminent Mexican diplomat Patricia Espinosa Cantellano as the head of climate change office

About Cantellano

• Aged 57
• Successor of Christiana Figueres of Costa Rica
• Selected on consultation with the Conference of Parties to the Convention through its Bureau
• From 2013 has been serving as Ambassador of Mexico to Germany and she has served as minister of foreign affairs of Mexico from 2006 to 2012
• 30 years of experience at highest levels in international relations
• Specialist in climate change, global governance, sustainable development, gender equality and protection of human rights
