The Tamil Nadu (TN) government signed 59 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for projects worth Rs 35,208 crore in various sectors, including areospace and defence, to create job opportunities for 76,795 people.
Key Points:
i.MoUs were exchanged for Rs 485 crore worth projects in areospace and defence sector and 52 other projects, cumulatively worth Rs 34,723 crore, includes Data Centres of companies like Adani Enterprises and Larsen and Tourbro.
ii.The CM of TN, M.K. Stalin, released the ‘TN Fin-Tech Policy 2021’, which encompasses features like a ‘Fin Tech City’ in Chennai and unveiled an Aerospace and Defence Handbook for enterprises involved in the sector.
iii.The CM laid the foundation stone for 13 new/expansion projects worth Rs 13,413 crore in fields, including solar power plants, manufacture of motor vehicle spare parts and data centres.
iv.The CM also launched an upgraded single window ‘2.0’ mobile app to help investors that has features like facilitation vis-a-vis approvals, current status
v.He also released a coffee table book to mark the culmination of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA).
vi.As per the state government’s statement, 82 initiatives, including 59 MoUs, 13 other projects, and 10 commercial production launches in the state gives rise to a total investment of Rs 52,549 crore and create job opportunities to 92,420 people.
-Survey of India and the TN government Signed MoU to Implement SVAMITVAÂ
The Survey of India and the TN government signed a MoU to undertake a pilot project in two villages under the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) scheme.
- Objective: To study whether a drone survey would help the State further strengthen the land records database of ‘natham’ areas.
- SVAMITVA scheme was promoted by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj to establish clear ownership of property in rural inhabited areas (called ‘grama natham’) by mapping of land parcels using drones and to provide ‘Record of Rights’ to village household owners.
Two and three wheeler makers TVS Motor Company signed a MOU with the TN Government for investment in Future Technologies and Electric Vehicle (EV). Under the MoU, the company will invest Rs 1,200 crores in Future Technologies and EVs in the next 4 years.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the state-run TN Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and Dassault Systems to set up a Centre of Excellence at an investment of Rs 212 crore, which is aimed at aiding the aerospace and defence sector enterprises in areas, including design and research.
-L&T Signed Agreement with TN to Establish Data CentreÂ
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has entered into an agreement with the TN government to establish a data centre at Kanchipuram, TN.
- L&T will establish 90 MW capacity data centres and associated units in a phased manner in Kanchipuram over the next 5 years. The company envisages employing around 1,100 people, 600 direct and 500 indirect in the project.
-Welspum One Signs MoU to develop Industrial Projects
Welspun One Logistics Parks (WOLP), a pan-India integrated fund, development and asset management platform, has signed a MoU with Guidance, the TN Government’s nodal agency, to develop 4-6 industrial and warehousing projects aggregating ~400 acres and 8000 jobs.
- The projects will bring direct investments of ~Rs 2500 Crore to TN in 5 years.
