The Government of Telangana has launched Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Agricultural Innovation Programme (AI4AI) in collaboration with Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) & World Economic Forum (WEF) – India. Telangana Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao launched the AI4AI program virtually on 12th August, 2020.
Key Notes:
i.A Team from Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution(C4IR) along with WEF- India has worked closely with Professor Jayashankar, Telangana State Agricultural University(PJTSAU) and Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Telangana to identify key areas for the uses of Artificial Intelligence(AI).
ii.The programme is expected to benefit both the farmers and the policymakers of the state.
iii.Agriculture Innovation Program is being launched as part of Telangana’s year of AI programmes.
2020-Year of AI Programmes:
i.Telangana Government has announced 2020 as the year of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the state.
ii.It aims to establish Hyderabad amongst the top 25 Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Hubs.
iii.Telangana government has partnered with several reputed organisations from industry and academia and introduced several initiatives, including a six-pronged AI strategy. The initiatives include T-AIM (Telangana’s AI Mission), a dedicated body for AI specific initiatives in partnership with NASSCOM; Centre for Research in Applied AI, an organisation with focus on healthcare in collaboration with Intel, IIIT Hyderabad and Public Health Foundation of India.
