In May 2025, Chief Minister (CM) of Telangana, Revanth Reddy has launched two initiatives, Women Acceleration Program (WAP) and Grassroot Youth Innovation Program (GYIP), with an aim to empower one crore women to become millionaires and to foster innovation among youth at JRC Convention Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- The two initiatives WAP and GYIP are launched under the guidance of WE Hub, the first state-led incubator in India.
- The event also witnessed the exchange of 17 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) including premier institutions such as National Stock Exchange (NSE), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, HP India, and various academic and corporate partners.
About Women Acceleration Program (WAP):
i.WAP, supported by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the World Bank(WB), is a flagship initiative under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
ii.It aims to strengthening the capabilities of women entrepreneurs to scale sustainably and enhance their competitiveness.
iii.The program is a two-year initiative, designed to accelerate the growth of some 140 existing women-led MSME across Telangana
iii.WAP enables women to achieve financial independence, leadership in business, and long-term entrepreneurial success, which would be achieved through targeted capacity building, tailored mentorship, financial enablement, expanded market methods and other methods.
About Grassroot Youth Innovation Program (GYIP):
i.The GYIP is designed to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among rural youth in Telangana.
ii.GYIP focuses on equipping young individuals with job readiness skills, mentorship, and hands-on experience, enabling them to become changemakers in their communities.
iii.The program will outreach over 6,000 students, 4,000 students to be sensitized, 1,500 students to be onboard onto iLEAP, and 500 students to be onboard onto Campuspreneur program.
iv.The Integrated Learning and Examination Advancement Program(iLEAP) programs support students in the age of 17-23 years to explore new technological trends and experience advancement in their careers by mastering critical thinking, innovation and leveraging advanced tools
About the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme:
i.The RAMP scheme, launched in 2022, is a flagship initiative of the Government of India (GoI), which is aimed to enhance the access MSMEs to market, finance and technology upgradation.
ii.It was launched by the Ministry of MSME(MoMSME) with the support of the WB for a period of 5 years from 2022 to 2027.
Telangana CM Launches “Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam Scheme”:
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also launched the “Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam” Scheme at Macharam Village of Nagarkurnool district, Telangana.
- Under the scheme, the tribal farmers will receive solar pumps of 5-7.5 horsepower(hp) for irrigating horticultural crops.
- During the launch, the 12-point Nallamala Declaration was unveiled, outlining the state’s commitment to tribal development.
i.The scheme will commence in 2025-26 and will be implemented till 2029-30 with 100% subsidy.
ii.The scheme with an outlay of Rs. 12,600 crores, aims to empower 2.1 lakh tribal farmers by providing solar powered irrigation facilities.
