In order to ensure a better teaching environment, the Tamil Nadu government is implementing the Smart Black Board scheme in 80,000 government schools.
The Smart Class Room scheme of the Central Education Ministry is being implemented in 7500 schools of the state.

The scheme envisages the use of audio visual teaching material. This material can be fed into the computer screens in classes using widely available pen drives.
Points to be Noted
Tamil Nadu Govt have reduced this year’s(2020) portions of state board students by 40%. This was made on the recommendations of an 18-member committee.

As per the India Report Digital Education 2020, that was virtually launched by Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Ministry of Education(earlier Ministry of Human Resource Development- HRD), Tamil Nadu school Education Department has provided the following major e-learning initiatives:
E-Learn Platform for Students, TN-DIKSHA for Students & Teachers and Tamil Nadu Teachers Platform (TNTP) among others.

On 14th July 2020, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister of Human Resource Development (MoHRD) released the PRAGYATA Guidelines on Digital Education, over a virtual platform from Delhi in the presence of Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State HRD. The guidelines were prepared by the Department of School Education & Literacy of the Ministry of HRD.
