About Taj Mahal:

Taj Mahalis located on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra.It is crafted in soft and pure marble and jewelled with semi-precious stones.

  • Construction of Taj Mahal was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in year Union minister of tourism and culture, Mahesh Sharma launched e-ticketing facility for the Taj Mahal and Humayun's tomb1632. It has the tomb of Shah Jahan’s favourite wife,Mumtaz Mahal.
  • The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage”.
  • It also features in several listings ofseven wonders of the modern world.
  • About 7-8 million people including domestic and international tourists visit The Taj Mahal every year.
