The Indian contingents won 9 medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze) at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Lagos 2024 held from 19th to 23rd June 2024 in Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall, Lagos, Nigeria.
- India’s Sreeja Akula won the 2024 WTT Women’s Singles title by defeating China’s Yijie Ding in the finals. She became the first-ever Indian player to win a Women’s Singles title in the WTT Contender.
- Dimitrij Ovtcharov of Germany won the Men’s Singles title by defeating Ricardo Walther (Germany) in the finals. this marks his 2nd WTT Series Singles title.

Indian Medal Winners:
i.In the women’s singles, Ayhika and Suthirtha Mukherjee had to settle for a bronze as they lost in the semifinals.
ii.Sreeja Akula paired with Archana Kamath won the women’s doubles title by defeating compatriots Yashaswini Ghorpade and Diya Chitale in the finals. Ghorpade and Chitale won the silver medal in women’s doubles.
- Sreeja Akula now holds the honour of being India’s highest-ranked player in the Women’s Singles standings, rising 19 spots to World No.24.
iii.Indian pair Ayhika Mukherjee and Suthirtha Mukherjee settled for a bronze in the women’s doubles. They lost the semifinals against Akula and Kamath.
iv.India’s national champion Harmeet Desai, paired with Manav Thakkar, defeated the Nigerian pair of Olajide Omotayo and Azeez Solanke to secure the gold medal in Men’s Doubles. They became the first Indian men’s pair to win a WTT Contender title.
v.India won 2 bronze medals in the Mixed doubles category. Archana Kamath and Manav Thakkar, and Manush Shah and Diya Chitale secured bronze medals after losing their respective semifinal matches in the Mixed doubles.
Note– The total prize money awarded for the tournament is USD 80,000.

i.In January 2024, Sreeja won her maiden international title by winning women’s singles title at the WTT Feeder Corpus Christi in Texas, the United States of America(USA)
ii.In March 2024, she won her second WTT singles career title at the WTT Feeder Beirut II in Lebanon.
