In April 2025, Singapore Changi Airport (Singapore) was named the World’s Best Airport in 2025 during the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, held at the Passenger Terminal Expo at Institución Ferial de Madrid (IFEMA) in Madrid, Spain. This marks the 13th time, Singapore Changi Airport has won the title, a record in the history of the awards.
- Doha’s (Qatar) Hamad International Airport (HIA), a former three-time winner of the World’s Best Airport award, is ranked second, and Japan’s Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) is ranked third.
About the World Airport Awards:
i.The World Airport Awards is the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax.
- It began in 1999, when Skytrax launched its 1st global Airport customer satisfaction survey.
ii.It is a non-profit section of Skytrax and is regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 575 airports.
iii.The World Airport Awards (also known as the Passengers’ Choice Awards) have been referred to as the Oscars of the airport industry.
iv.The 2025 Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the survey period operated from August 2024 to February 2025.
- Over 100 customer nationalities participated in the 2024-2025 survey.
v.The survey evaluated the customer experience across airport service and product key performance indicators – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, and security/immigration through to departure at the gate.

i.Other significant awards for Singapore Changi Airport include the World’s Best Airport Dining, the World’s Best Airport Washrooms (first-ever winner), and the Best Airport in Asia.
- Singapore’s Changi houses a first-of-its-kind Butterfly Garden in an airport and an iconic 40-metre (m) Jewel Rain Vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
ii.HIA has also received awards for the World’s Best Airport Shopping and the Best Airport in the Middle East.
iii.Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) also received the World’s Cleanest Airport (Major Airport), the World’s Best Domestic Airport, and the World’s Best Airport for Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and Accessible Facilities.

Key Highlights:
i.South Korea’s Seoul Incheon Airport, which was ranked 4th globally, won the World’s Best Airport Staff, a coveted title being voted by customers.
ii.Japan’s Chubu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya, was a repeat winner of the World’s Best Regional Airport award.
iii.France’s Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), popularly known as Roissy Airport, was named the Best Airport in Europe for a third successive year.
- The Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) received the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Terminal award.
iv.South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) is the major award winner in Africa, receiving the Best Airport and the Best Airport Staff Service Awards in Africa.
v.The United States of America’s (USA) Houston Airport System (HAS) was recognised as providing the World’s Best Airport Art for the 3rd successive year.
vi.Bahrain’s Bahrain International Airport (BIA) was named the World’s Cleanest Airport in the category for airports handling under 25 million passengers annually.
- BIA was also ranked Best Airports by Passenger Numbers in 2025, with 5 to 10 million passengers.
v.Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport won the award for World’s Best Airport Baggage Delivery, Copenhagen was acclaimed for the World’s Best Airport Security Processing and Hong Kong International scooped the gong for World’s Best Airport Immigration.

The highest ranked Airports by passenger numbers in 2025 are:
- 70+ million passengers – Tokyo International Airport (Haneda)
- 60 to 70 million passengers – Singapore Changi Airport(Singapore)
- 50 to 60 million passengers – Hamad International Airport(Qatar)
- 40 to 50 million passengers – Rome Fiumicino Airport(Italy)
- 30 to 40 million passengers – Narita International Airport(Japan)
Indian Airports in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025:
No Indian airport has been named in the list of the world’s top 20. The Indian Airports that were featured in the World’s Best Airport 2025 Awards are:
i.New Delhi’s(Delhi) Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), or Delhi International Airport, India’s largest, most advanced, and busiest airport, was ranked 32nd (36th in 2024).
- It also earned the title of Best Airport in India and South Asia in 2025.
ii.Kempegowda International Airport(KIA), Bengaluru (Karnataka), was ranked 48th in 2025, and in 2024, it was ranked 58th.
- KIA has also been named the Best Regional Airport in India & South Asia.
- T2 of the KIA has received Skytrax’s 5-star airport terminal rating, making it the 1st airport in India to receive its 5-star rating.
- The 5-Star Airport Rating is granted after a comprehensive audit of over 800 passenger touchpoints across over 30 categories.
- Taj Bangalore, a luxury hotel near the KIA terminal, was honoured as the Best Airport Hotel in India & South Asia.
iii.Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad (Telangana), was ranked 56th. In 2024, it was ranked 59th.
- GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), Hyderabad, which operates the RGIA, was honoured with the ‘Best Airport Staff in India & South Asia 2025’ award for the 4th time.
iv.Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (Maharashtra), was ranked 73rd in 2025. In 2024, it was ranked 95th.
v.Manohar International Airport at Mopa, Goa, was ranked as the Best Airport by Passenger Numbers with less than 5 million passengers.
- It was ranked 80th in 2025, and in 2024, it was ranked 92nd.
